Probably gettable to be honest. On current output probably worth pick 35, on potential pick 15, so somewhere in between that (pick 25) & I wouldn’t be surprised if the club let him go. I’d prefer to keep him.
Is Acres playing atm?

Missed the China game and missed round one but has played most weeks. Is Acres playing atm?
That's exactly what I'm talking about. I have no problem being corrected. That article is exactly what I'm looking for from our club. To see it happen gives me more confidence in Lethlean.WC by your account are doing lots of things right off the field, I don’t doubt they are.
The thing is so too are Collingwood and others, we don’t need to travel far to see top facilities and best practice. WC have won 1 flag in the past ten years so all that innovation and rooms full of analytics staff may just take a back seat to talent on the park. It’s easy to forget that St Kilda were a lucky bounce or two away from going back to back so we must have been doing something right.

To the best of my knowledge we have collaborated with and trained at Monash in the past and every team including us are looking for an edge.

I’ve said it many times before but successful clubs usually do a lot right on and off the field. That's exactly what I'm talking about. I have no problem being corrected. That article is exactly what I'm looking for from our club. To see it happen gives me more confidence in Lethlean.
I'm not sold on him yet but the fact he's getting as much people with a history of success involved is a massive tick. Gubby. Dermot. Billy Slater. Ratten. I forget his name the rugby union guy. We need anyone with a history of success involved with this club. A weight of numbers thing.
The appointment of dos and the link to universities to improve our modelling is even better.
That article you linked is another tick.
Having said that. Its just not one flag in 10 years for WCE. It's sustained success. They get a flag a tick over every 10 years.
1986 to 1992
1994 to 2006
2006 to 2018
With some failed grand finals throw in.
Id love that for our club. I thought we had turned that corner and were there with 1997 to 2009 and 2010. Like you said, very close. Which is why I had associated us with being this underdog that finds a way to success but just falling short. This decade of 2011 to 2019 has not been that. Its been a reversion to being no where near it and falling away.
Hopefully we've turned the corner with things you have mentioned to return back to what got us there in 1997 and 2009.
We need to find a way to be innovative and ahead of the comp.
WCE have done better than us as they have had good strong contributors along all lines- not so much one champion CHF or one champion mid then daylight. It's all about balance.Hey you're correct on cripps. He was only found to be diabetic in the back end of his draft year. Yes he developed compartment syndrome in his last year with us. Yes he didn't spend enough time with us to make it obvious. But the results are there for WCE. They are getting more from players who have not had as much time in the system as ours.
I tried to explain why WCE is successful and why we are not. I provided you examples on why I think WCE are ahead of us and how they're innovating what they do.
Can you provide me examples of what we are doing that is better than WCE? Can you tell me what we have innovated in the last 10 years?
I think finnis and Lethlean know we are behind here. I think they know the results are a symptom of that. Their comments on the football dept, list management and coaching are correct. Identifying something as needing to be fixed is easier than actually fixing it.
Before this season it look like they overdid it and needed to go back to the draft.
Now they're flag certainties.
Marchbank is actually a pretty good player.Lol @ Marchbank. Bloke should just be content to get a new contract offer from Carlton.

Yeh and that's why no one should take Geelong seriously, only played sides below them...How many times have we played the poor sides like Frankston though. Don't let ladder position fool you without looking at the fixture.
lolYeh and that's why no one should take Geelong seriously, only played sides below them...
Of course you look at ladder position ya numpty!
I'd trade acres for ainsworth in a heart beat.Cheers
Sounds spot on. 15 to 35.
The BF rumour mill on our board is saying if we get Kelly without using the Swans 2nd which we hold that may be put up for Acres. Currently pick 23 before academy shuffles etc.
Im getting excited on Devon Robertson the WA U18 skipper. High production inside mid, Priddis but with pace and agility. Lacks x factor but can get a stack of ball in close.
Eagles midfield depth is shallow, if we lost a couple of mids to injury we would get exposed.
So gresh isn’t new to the midfield. Just out of interest what is the perfect midfield available and if you are moving players out what positions do they play or are they droppedlol
Nice and subtle Joopster! Yeah the Cats are the real deal this year....Mixing up their midfield this year has proven to be a masterstroke
And that's with having players of the calibre of Selwood, Dangerfield and Ablett available!
Makes you wonder what the F Richo has been doing going with the same same week in week out!
Geelong's recruiting and development has also helped enormously bring in solid players like Dalhouse and Rohan and co in to help cover
Their bottom 6! The fact they can afford to drop a kid as talented as Venables says it all!
I'd trade acres for ainsworth in a heart beat.
What's the go with petrol? When's he out of contract?
Hahahaha well played plugs!I don’t know but it’s expensive at the moment. We don’t have contracts in Victoria with petrol stations
what would we get for billings pick wise?
He's slowly justifying his draft position, but maybe not damaging enough..
I feel like a top 5 pick would be overs but hey a bird in the hand etc..
Well that was clearly dumb. He isn’t worth 2 round picks. He should be 2 first round picks if a 31 year old Bryce Gibbs got that.
Yeah Gresh has got a go, still think at this stage of his career he is a better small forward with just the odd burst on the ball!So gresh isn’t new to the midfield. Pretty sure coff was always a hbf but even if he wasn’t it’s to early to say he should be part of the midfield. You say it’s the same old midfield but then complain that one of the same old mids is dropped. As for acres well unfortunately he is victim of being able to play other positions. I would like your best midfield when you have time and if that means others are out where do they play.Yeah Gresh has got a go, still think at this stage of his career he is a better small forward with just the odd burst on the ball!
We did recruit Clark and Coffield to be mids....We have barely played them...Acres who is a mid has been permanently stationed forward or the odd stint
In the Ruck...Dunstan was inexplicably dropped when other mids were performing worse! And i still maintain that he can play as a def forward in bursts
Instead of the bench always, as he is good for a goal and tackles fiercely!
My big beef with the coach is his lack of ability to be able to switch it up when things are not working, not just in the middle but also forward where it
Hasn't really worked all year! That and the whole development issue with our youngsters!

thinking around 10Still seems to be the cost of decent talent these days. He's looking very much on the up and other sides would want him. Different if he nominates a club and says he won't go anywhere else but would still cost a high first round at the worst.
