Would love it but There was an article where Laird said he was not looking to move.

Was this reported by anyone credible or was it just a text in or something?

Sam McClure said he was apparently touring Lions facilities today but take that with a grain salt I guess

I'll back Sam in then, he was the first on the Neale news and I think gets very good intel from us.

Laird or Smith would be great but hard to see what a trade could be given both are contracted until end of 2021.

Don't know but a possible trade could see Us trade our 2 top 20 picks down to a top 10 pick and pass that on to Adelaide for Laird

Our first two picks together probably fetches one of them. Maybe next year's first fetches the other.

Big if true.

McClure is reasonably credible. Says some daft s**t during the season but trust him when it comes to trade news.
I remember when he copped an absolute canning from everyone else in the media when he said Luke Hodge would come out of retirement and play for the Lions. He was basically ridiculed, but he was 100% on the money. Let’s hope he is right again,Laird would be an awesome pickup.

The excavation works at Springfield or our 'temporary' facilities at the Gabba I wonder.

If anything was to put him off, this would.

Maybe we could instead give him a video walk-through of our soon to be created field of dreams facilities at Springfield.

If Carlton are to get Papley, it will be costing them pick 8. Swans won't let him walk for anything less than that. He kicked 37 goals this year, and is contracted until 2023. To put it in perspective, we paid pick 12 for Cameron. Who up to that point, had only ever kicked 29 in a season.

Where did McClure say this?

Can’t find it on his SEN trade segment or on twitter.

Yeah I'm seriously doubting it too. It would be a big story and worth an individual article/tweet if it had been said.

Laird is coming to us. I said this in May (first time I heard of Laird's link to us) and then said it again a few weeks back on this board. Media people like Barrett and Morris have known this for some time and are waiting for the right time - like now.
The only thing that will stop this from happening is (i) that the trade negotiations break down or (ii) he changes his mind due to the changing of the coach.
Very confident that this will happen. This is similar to the Neale scenario where the talks started ages ago.

Could we put a player in the trade for laird/smith, as well as our first pick. Cutler or N Robbo eg, if they wanted to leave for greener pastures. Each are worth a 2nd rounder, if they were to both leave but not in the trade for laird, these picks could be bundled for maybe another first rounder. Taylor is probably the only other player with a 2nd rnd value in trade. Going to take some magic this year to bag a gun, plus Ah Chee and anyone else. Then have 3 draft picks minimum.

Probably a good opportunity to remind people to try and provide a link if possible when detailing trade rumours. Also if you've heard something on SEN, make it clear whether the rumour came from a rando calling in or just a terrible journo running the show.

Just as a bench mark, Marcus Adams cost us pick 32 and a future 3rd round pick.

When discussing what our players are worth, lets look at some precedents of what past players were worth.
