But we will also have Martin, Zorko, Rich, Robbo all coming towards the end of their time within that period and will either be retired or on pay cuts to fit in the pay rise of others.
There is then others coming into that period of the careers depending on form and other things like Adams, McCarthy, Bundy may not last that long but he is another.
Out with the old and in with the new, so to speak.
We have the right people in place to make everything happen.

Yes we do, totally agree. Not overly stressed. But we need to mindful as we haven't faced a situation where we need to hold on to a bunch of genuine young talent for a very long time. If anything it;s been the opposite, we are trying to find ways to spend the cap. I am sure GWS and other clubs had the right people monitoring it aswell but doesn't mean the squeeze won't come. The Cats had to convince their Guys to all take significant paycuts to keep them together, no guarantees our kids will do the same. A McCluggage type could seriously be inline for a 1.4m a year over 5 years type offer from a North Melbourne type team, we are going to have to match some big offers.

He still had to be paid the same amount as he would have got in his original contract under the delisting/re-rookieing. I have no idea what he was on but the delisting wouldn't have changed his salary.

This wouldn't have impacted on his contract - just his status on our list.

I assumed he must've been out of contract to be delisted. But apparently it was a renegotiation of the last year of his deal. My mistake.

I also heard that Hodge was on 1.5m for 2 years.

Just a thought - if Adel are trying to free up cap space and get draft picks for possibly Grundy and young draft talent, would they 'force' us to take say Jenkins in any deal for Laird/Smith? I can certainly see them demanding this.
I'm also surprised that we're not linked to Elliot - as his name was mentioned to me a month ago as being offered a 3 year deal at the lions.

I am fairly sure it was $500 a year over 2 years. $750k a year is absurd money for that scenario, that would have been huge news if he was on that. I might be wrong.

There was news it was around that mark. It doesn't really matter as we need to spend the cap anyway.

If so, money bloody well spent.
Would much prefer to spend that on Hodgey, than someone like Hugh Greenwood who has his management shopping him around for a 4 yr deal @750k/yr.😲🤪

Just doing some reading on last year's Brownlow, and was surprised to see that Rory Laird finished equal 6th with Dusty on 19 votes. Serious player. Still holding out hope we might be in with a chance to get him.

I really don't understand the Jizz fest over Brodie Smith

I do. I like him for us more than Laird.

Would slot in perfectly into our back 6.

Sooooo....

15 For Smith, 32 for Ah Chee.....

- Seems Ok to me!

(Although I still prefer Laird to Smith).

Will have a lot to throw around this trade period. Would try to pry some serious young talent... Cockatoo, Caldwell, Ah Chee........

Cockatoo re-signed. Caldwell would be fantastic but no chance GWS deals him after a single season.

de-listing and rooking just means the player's contract is not broken with the club so to club doesn't have to pay the player out. it is done to create room on the list. makes sense if you have a player going into the last year of their contract and you think they won't play many games but you don't want to pay them out up front.

I thought he would be a good fit for GC actually in a Hodgey type role. If he can stay on the park?
We have the injury record to get him back on the park. Gold Coast don't. I agree they need him more, but if we're at all interested he'll choose us, no doubt.

Hugh Greenwood (Adelaide)

"The Suns are very confident of landing Hugh Greenwood from Adelaide as well.

"Greenwood hasn’t made a decision yet … he’s chasing that four-year deal from the Crows or at least three with a trigger, so he’s waiting to hear back from them on whether that will be accepted.

"He has met with Hawthorn, Brisbane and Gold Coast. The Suns really think if the Crows deal falls over, they’re absolutely in the box seat to get him as well."

Some news in there about Jamie Elliott but nothing linking him with Brisbane.
