Once you pay tax ,your manager and sundry expenses there's really not that much difference between 4 or 500k a year . More important issues are your mental well being ( family and friends etc,) , the prospects of success ,your lifestyle , the fulfillment you get from certain environments . And your security of tenure .

The converse factor is that these are young guys ,a lot of them not highly educated or necessarily all that smart ,and what they should be doing isn't necessarily what they want to do.

I think we've created an environment that would be attractive to certain types of guys even if it doesn't tick all the boxes.

Players turning up to B & F’s don’t mean much these days........Beams anyone!

Lol. After Beams, not only do I not care if a player turns up to the B & F or not, I don't pay attention to anything they say either. I don't care if they profess their unending love & loyalty to the club. All taken with a pinch of salt. Unless you turn up to the B & F with your contract & sign it in front of everyone, appearances & words don't mean diddly squat.

Worst case scenario he stays at Pies it means they are probably paying more than they wanted too. Pies really need to win the Premiership next year. The likes of Grundy and Moore could well be out the door at the end of 2020. Pendlebury and Sidebottom will be another year older.

They'll need a bit of a war chest to keep Aish too....

Why are people writing off Christensen? Thought he was one of our best players in the second half of the year? Took his chances, had his pace and X factor back, tackled ferociously...really really odd.
He also plays absolutely nothing like Elliot (in fact no one on our list plays like him) so yeah, really weird comments.

hope this goes through.
In my opinion, would rather risk not getting a big like jenkins and back in McSpray to finally kick straight.

we would have the most dynamic forward line in the league, absolute nightmares for defenders.

the only weakness would be the lack of a dependable pack mark (again, back in McSpray and Hippy to clunk a few more).

all of those guys would be devastating playing isolated one out, particular the obvious Charlie and Elliot.

should be another cracking trade period! :)

I think everyone wants to keep Bundy and I havent seen anyone say he is done or write him off?

I think people are just preparing to accept it if he doesen't get offered another contract.

Big difference.

I'm getting the feeling he's gonna stay a pie, played the field to get the best deal he could. No problem with that, but hope I'm wrong.

The Pies thought they were a big hope this year ,hence the Beams deal to put together the best midfield in history.

They made a prelim and just got nutted so I can't see them doing anything that would jepoardise 2020 , especially since their guns are nearer the end and Buckley's been at it for 9 years.

Last roll of the dice so you'd be surprised if they let Elliot go . Things must be super tight if they did.

Mitch thinking of going to Collingwood ?
I'd legit cry.

No I remember him saying on his podcast a few eps back that he was chasing a big name to come to the club...

Mitch says a lot of things....

It all gets back to Elliot doesn't it . Does he want a change and a freshen or does he still want glory with the Pies. At the stage of his career he's at you'd have to think length of contract would be a big issue ,especially since he's had injury problems.

Elliot be great we need a forward who can lead to space. Charlie does it sometimes, he rather double back or try wrestle and run. He also draws the #1 defender. Big O and McStay just try to bring the ball down. Hippy been playing higher up the ground. Notice on both finals we bombed as no one lead

Totally agree . When you're not going so hot and/or the game is tight a leading forward gives reward for effort . We exhausted ourselves with our multiple entries and trying to hold it in. And subsequently got killed on the rebound . So the opposition got a lot of goals without huge effort , we spent a lot more tickets for a lower outcome.

So what happens if the game plan in the forward line doesn't include a forward to lead as you refer to? At least 3 of the 4 forwards we have can all play the role of a "leading forward" but is that the game plan that has been set? If we improve our delivery into the forward 50, our forwards can become pretty capable of leading into space. To me, that's the problem, not our forwards.

Lots of balls in the air in the back room. Elliot is a great get if we can secure him. Still have lots of options ahead and a few bargaining chips that are attracting attention.

Thought I read earlier this year Elliot was not looking to move interstate so that may be a stumbling block.

Might not be as quiet as some Media experts think regarding us.

I don't expect Elliot to want to come to Brisbane. Our offer would have to be over the top of the other clubs and I doubt he would leave Victoria. Does get in the news a fair bit so he may like the media hype which he will not get that in Brisbane. He is injury prone so I would prefer to look at some other options that will benefit us. Yes he could be good for us but I have a ? against him. We need that running hbf, mids' a strong marking forward and pick up a promising young ruckman which I would be more interested in. We need pace and players with good disposal - it's a big ask but if we are to hopefully win a PREMIERSHIP we will have to have these players. We may have players in the NEAFL that may take the next step and need that opportunity and we do need to look elsewhere to rectify our weaknesses. Once we cover these weaknesses we will give it a good shake. We have to be stronger because our 2020 draw will be harder and must be 10 to 20% better to win that GF at the MCG. Already predictions are stating that we will finish from 4th to 7th next season so we must have that team depth.

With Gold Coast having an abundance of high end draft pics this year and likely to get good pic for Martin , any chance they accept a future second or future 3rd for ah chee . Next years draft isn’t meant to me as strong but they may like to spread these pics over a few years rather then one big hit . They also gonna have two top 10 picks next year.
