Yep, one thing that stands out for me about CEY is his ability to use his body, especially in shepherding, to assist his teammates.

I think you'll be very happy with him, especially costing you nothing.

Sad to see him go. Look forward to seeing him and Lyons together next year.

Cheers.
Mitch’s twitter post is in this thread - it’s a clip of CEY wiping him out. Glad he’s on our team now.

Basti isn’t gone yet is he?? Would have thought you’d be holding out hope for another year

I'm so jealous that you lived out the last few days not knowing and in genuinely sorry to be the one to tell you this.

Bastinac has not been offered another contract. His manager confirmed as such 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Genuinely didn’t know that... it’s forgotten that he had a pretty decent first year with us.

So what was our worry then? To me, we didn't have an answer for Martin in both games. One of the reasons to me was the ball was coming out too easily in the middle and they had a lot of time to hit their targets on lead - Martin was even more dangerous with so much space. Their mids were experienced, too skillful.

If we could win more contested ball than what we did, maybe.. just may be the ball won't get out that easily. We lack depth in this area and all our mids are on the small end of scale. We need a bigger body to create a difference, I am hoping CEY could do that for us.

Our problem was 1. Not kicking straight 2. Bombing the ball forward into the 50 rather than lowering the eyes and hitting someone up. Complicated by forwards not leading how they should.

The ball was coming too quickly out of our forward line, not our midfield. The Martin factor was just another concern, but that's a given for him against any opposition.
EDIT: I still think CEY is a good addition

Agreed, which makes the Christensen contract situation even more interesting.
To me, he was creating more opportunities with better pressure in that forward line than others.

Sam McClure gets a lot of crap and he's pretty unlikable but he was right once again re Daniher. Had the Crows Camp issues first which was denied (obviously turned out to be significant) and Neale to us in August last year.
He also was the first to report on Luke Hodge coming out of retirement to play with the Lions, and copped a barrage from the rest of the media who said it was not going to happen.

I think Elliot was up here having his photo taken in a Lions Guernsey before going away on Holidays with his Brother.

Tom Browne (grain of salt required) - 'Brisbane are offering significantly more money and a longer term' than Collingwood and are a 'huge chance'; Melbourne resigned to missing out.

Can see Chris Fagan walking in to the Gabba with Elliott in the footage too.

Here's the 7 News Melbourne report:

SURPRISE FAGES IN THE FOOTAGE.
Lions are a "massive chance" to get Elliott
Demons resigned to not getting him.
Lions offering more $$$ and years than Collingwood.
Fages rocks a T-Shirt

Didn't get a good look at it but wouldn't shock if he was rocking a Dire Straits Brothers in Arms Australian Tour 1986 T-shirt. Surely a collection of vintage concert Tees is the next thing for Fages to show off on 360 next year.
