Also confirmed big o upgraded.

So we now have
Bought in 3 players (Birchall, cey, ah chee)
1 retirement (hodge)
Delisted 3 players, (Walker, Robertson, Keays) (from senior list)
Traded 2 players (cutler, Taylor)
Upgraded 2 rookies (big o, hinge)

And have skinner, bundy, Lyons unsigned.

And have 7 picks with points currency in the draft. (2 of which are tied to those rookies - but we could equally trade them away and use pick 100 to upgrade hinge and oscar)

Net position is currently 1 list position for those 7 picks of value.

So maybe skinner/Lyons to rookie list.would make 3 list spots.

Bundy signed or delisted subject to how many picks we can package together to keep open a list spot for him. Basically so we think we’ll get a better player at 48 than bundy... or if we trade picks a better player than say 55 or 72 if that becomes our 4th pick.

Expect Either pick upgrades or ‘pick 55 for future 4th rounder’ type trades over next couple of weeks.

Aren't we? I don't think Lester is best 22 and he clearly isn't a development player.

I agree, Lester slipped my mind. Pretty unique size though, not many can play in every area of the ground like he can. Obvious why we retained him. He was solid this year, don't get all the hoo harr.

Will say, would be very disappointed if we kept Hinge and lost any of Lyons, Christensen or Skinner.

We will have to utilise the rookie list fairly extensively to retain some of them.

See my last two posts in the draft thread.

Short version is after about pick 35, there aren’t really any small forwards who are better than our academy prospects Coleman and Cumberland. Or Bundy. Maybe Kysiah Pickett on pure talent, from SA, but I have an aversion to drafting a 170cm 68kg small forward.

I'm not as big a fan of Lester the player as some others but I think this year he played the best senior footy I've seen him play and was a bit stiff to get dropped.

Likewise Bundy who gave us something I wasn't certain he had any more in the games he played.

I think we have enough junior talent on our list currently to not have to go fishing on hopes and dreams and only go after players we really want.

It'd be nice to package our top two picks into a higher pick but unlikely to happen looking at the current clubs higher up.

We've now got guys like Cox and Bailey on our list who 5 years ago we'd be relying on them to become immediate guns whereas now they have to really fight to get a spot.

Interesting to speculate whether the second Academy propsect we are eyeing off is indeed Cumberland. I think probably but not forgetting that Will Martyn was invited late to the National Combine which although instigated by the AFL probably means some clubs have shown interest. He must be a late chance to be drafted or a rookie option, in which case we may be interested. Who knows?

For what it's work if it may mean something Bundy is getting married today in Queensland in my home town of Maleny about 2 hours drive from Brisbane.
Playing for the Maleny Meerkats next year?

Are we allowed to push the ones signed up already to rookie list? Or do we have to delist and rookie?

This might be a bit mean spirited, but I reckon Michael Whiting needs to be traded from the podcast. It’s so obvious he has a soft spot for the Suns (I’d say he is more fond of the Suns than the lions) and it’s pretty galling sometimes even though he seems like a good bloke. We need someone more one-eyed. Thoughts?

Respect your opinion, but completely disagree. Whiting is the play-by-play to Doms colour and does a good job of it. Is a Lions supporter too, so think your assumption is a little off ;)

Nah!
I think they work really well together and as Nunez said he leans more towards the Lions as a supporter.

No offence meant but your way off the mark. Fish and Dom do a great show.

You might be getting the wrong impression regarding the Suns. He promotes them as much as us but would like nothing more than for the Suns to get it going and have a strong 2 teams in QLD

Nope. Whiting brings the credibility.

I would like to see see you post this on the Suns board or Mike Whitings Twitter feed.
