Neither Hogan nor Harley ran in the time trial. Hogan ran a lap or two at a good trot and was over with the modified group.
Glad to hear that he's back running. I'm hoping be's back in full training mid-late February and right to go round 1.

Sprints are more Colyer's thing I'd say.

Dixon was labouring early and was a backmarker nearly the whole way. Don't know if there are some extenuating circumstances that affected his ability to train over the break, but it seems maintaining a high standard of fitness work will constantly have to be kept front of mind for him.

It could be that he's had the flu recently or maybe had a light sprain or muscle tightness across the break that prevented him running, but he was really struggling from a long way out.

He wouldn’t be made to run if those two scenarios were the case.
We couldn't say that definitively, but if he'd fully recovered I don't see why they wouldn't have him run just to have a marker, if not for a fitness boost and some hardening.

Anyways it's just speculation, the actual fact is he needs to put some serious time into his fitness.

Woooo go my buddy Giro!! Ripper kid.
Yep. There's something special about his attitude. I only saw two sessions before Christmas. Both times he was out practicing his one step kicking long after most had headed in. He's also put on a decent amount of muscle. Wont get pushed off the ball like he did a bit at afl level last year. Swita, Banfield, Hughes and Giro seem to be putting in wonderful preseasons. Im confident all four will significantly improve in 2019.

Did Brett Bewley run? I thought he might of given the leaders a run for their money.

Brad Hill, Logue, Bennell, Sandilands, Hogan, Ryan, Bewley and Walters didn’t run in the 2km trial, they did short sprints on the other side of the oval and then did some laps around the oval. I didn’t see Stephen Hill at all.
Darcy pretty much sprinted the beginning of the last lap of the 2km to pass 4 or 5 runners in about 50m. Mundy also ran well for him; he’s previously been a back marker.

That sounds like a big improvement from Sean, as it was posted on here he came last by a fair bit in the last run. Must have been working hard over the break. Cheers for info.

Switkowski is one that we probably weren't aware of as having a big engine. Was he injured this time last pre-season.

There's a couple of clips a fan has posted on Instagram at what would probably be near the quarter way mark with the times being called out at 1:25 to 1:40 mark. (dockerjo1960 Instagram).

In the 2nd vid the run is a bit more advanced but it is too sped up to see anything other than there's a significant gap between Giro and Brayshaw, gap, then the next 3 Hughes, Swit and Langdon, then bigger gap...then another group of three - its two taller players and a short one (i'm guessing, because at the speed the video is going its hard to put a pause in the right place) I think its Fyfe, Pearce, someone shorter either wearing thigh bandages or bike shorts beneath and a white cap backwards - i'm leaning towards it being Colyer, followed next by Blakely, unidentified, Crowden... but the run isn't over.

Probably the 500m mark.

If it was the halfway mark we're in for a bloody good year!

Yes, I just edited it. I was thinking for a mile (km)distance rather than 2 when I said half. Someone who can super slow mo the video might be able to work out more.

Any training watcher could have told you he had a big tank. Last pre-season he just churned out lap after lap after lap.

Didn't he do a bad hammy late in preseason and was out for most of the year?
So with a full preseason and hopefully no injury, will be very handy with that speed and tank.
Plus he will have the competition from Schulz for his spot which should spur him on.
