I'm on the fence with Shaw but gee I'd love his personality around the club which tips me in favour of the move.

Imagine him and Ellis bouncing off each other?

Better then Touk, next year? Runner up in our bnf, same position, similar limitations. One we already have, and not getting rid of, the other might be better, but why not target a position that we don't have?
I love it how people say if Phillips is not as good as Rowell then he's not worth having.

I could see him being our 4th best mid after Rowell, Anderson and Greenwood by the end of the 2021 season, and our 3rd best by end of 2022.

I'd be down for shaw for a year with possible year extension, would add something and experience can never be underestimated

50/50 but i he is there would be mad not to take him, Perfect fit for GC midfield

I watched what old mate Rendell said on Open Mike about him and Rendell is such a stand up bloke which I think is pretty rare in the AFL industry that I’m “all In” and he’s the one I want.

It doesn’t look like there is too much in the way of rebounding defenders or big key defenders around pick 5 this year, so if we were to keep our pick you’d think Phillips would be high on our list. Although we do have Davies coming in to add to the midfield depth too.

I haven’t seen much of him, but does Phillips offer a point of difference in our midfield to Rowell/Miller/Greenwood? Can he play wing/half-forward? Or is he an out and out mid?

What a weird year. Could he have continued on and had a Rowell like year if the NAB league went ahead? So difficult to evaluate talent.

Yes he is and also a great eye for talent 'in the old way' through watching players and not just relying on stats or data
Would be between him and hollands for the GC pick i should imagine

Phillips plays exactly like Rowell and Miller does. Inside clearance beast who has enough pace to break out of stoppages. Also leadership qualities

He is a great little unit Phillips and will be a great midfielder but he is only a midfielder. Wont have the versatility to play back or forward, he is very similar in style to Touk. Although he is a bit more of a burst through a pack to deliver a handball type then the on the ground fighting for the ball like Touk. I like him and think he will be a good player but im iffy on fit for us and if the year off for him will stunt development as he hasn't played as the man in the u18s. He is similar in style to Lachie Neale at Freo not Brisbane.

Don't think the suns will draft Hollands since we drafted Sam Flanders last year who basically does the same role

“EXCITING international prospect Hewago Oea has one hand on a senior list position at Gold Coast who are weighing up whether to provide him a deal that could land him an AFL debut.

The 18-year-old, who hails from Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea, is into his second year of an international scholarship with Gold Coast where he has proved himself as high quality small forward.

Gold Coast are in discussions to put the man known as “Ace” on the club’s senior list in 2021, a move that would enable him to be selected for AFL fixtures.”

*Article mentions it will depend on new list numbers.

From what I've seen he certainly has AFL traits.
Wish we could just select our most wanted 42 players without worrying about contract status etc.!
