If I'm the Pies I absolutely trade out Treloar for pick 5. Just good business IMO.

Why wouldn’t you guys be making a play for Crouch and keeping pick 5?

Differences as a player aside, Treloar comes across more as a leader type. Family man in the eyes of the public. Crouch meanwhile was just busted for doing illicit drugs with a younger player.

Well there’s that but he’s not a bad egg, 3/4s of the AFL would let their hair down in the off-season and I doubt you’d see him get in trouble again, it’s hit him pretty hard.

Treloar is a bit better player but not enough to give up pick 5 compared to a free hit.

It seems the Pies are certainly putting him out there, which has pi$$ed him off no end. Thus him standing firm in the media this week.

I think a lot of Victorian clubs will certainly come in to play though before us.

I'd agree with that, but public optics and who you get in is still pretty important for GC, rightly or wrongly. I can imagine the fallout if we decided to get Crouch instead of Treloar.

I think there's a bit to say from both how the wider AFL views us and the boys morale if we can land a big fish like Treloar, and not someone who we were linked to last year, didn't really want to come and now comes after a falling out

This is honestly quite scary, can see this severely backfiring on us.

At pies because of our lack of inside strength, Treloar has had to do all the dirty work by himself (2nd in AFL for Contested Possessions per game behind Oliver).

At GC, with Greeenwood, Miller, Swallow those inside types feeding it to him, he could be back to being an explosive inside mid bursting away from contests (Tim Kelly but even better). Imagine if we make it deep into finals and lose because we lost Treloar...

I'm wondering why. Is it a salary pov? The fox footy report states he is expected to get a salary spike next year. But forcing players out when they don't want to leave is not a good look.

Yeah. Our list manager only took over a couple years ago. I wonder if he is trying to fix a mess..

I would hate to see Adz leave, but for the best for the club, if it helps in the long run, I'll be okay.

Most probably salary cap issues. Collingwood would like to make a run for Cameron? Not good look. Grundy's 7 years 7 mil contract does not look very flashy right now.

Yeah Treloar has made it pretty clear he just does not want to come up. There may still be a small chance it happens, but if he doesn’t want to be here, why bother.
The media seems hellbent on making it happen though so who knows.

Treloar turns us into a finals side, and I would give up 5 and one of Brodie or Wright to make it happen, but I wonder where it leaves Swallow.

I understand his leadership value but my first choice midfield would be:

Ellis - Greenwood - Anderson
Witts - Treloar - Rowell

Miller at least has leg speed, and I've always thought he could be a really good small defender. Swallow doesn't have that luxury and im struggling to see him as part of a finals bound best 22.

Collingwood were more than happy to have Treloar at the start of a heavily back ended contract. Too bad pies, you’re now on the hook for the rest. Poor form ‘if’ it’s true.
