That would be a horrible outcome for us
Exactly.

The whole reason I did that post was to show those that think it would be beneficial for us to have some “feel good” wins.

I am probably an island but I hope we don’t win anymore games this year.
We have a massive opportunity to change things around sooner rather than later if we aggressively attack this draft (re:2004)

Also look at the NGA prospects for teams around us.

Come next year - whose going to remember a few wins late in 2020

Don’t get me wrong - players will still give 100% and we all expect that.
(look at the game against Port, we played our guts out, I’m proud of the boys)

Come at me.

2020 is the least number of losses required to finish bottom four. And the fans don’t even see them live.

will require a massive scouting effort to maximise inthe draft though

Would be a massive risk trading out of next years draft. By all reports its a cracking draft. If I had the choice I would trade into that one than this one. Remember we don't have Sicily next year. That should be the deciding factor. We are just as likely to get a top 3 pick next year.

Average at best? Setterfield has played 20 games and is coming back from an ACL injury.

We are now starting to see what he can do in the seniors. And whilst I believe Worpel is a better midfielder currently, there hasn't been too much difference between them so far this season.
Who cares how many games he's played, it's been almost 3 years since did his acl so hardly "coming back" from an ACL. he's a very average footballer, he would be better compared to Cousins than Worpel.

Not the discussion for it but Setterfield is BOG average. Blokes bit of a spud considering how high he went in The draft.

I'm not to sure about this. I trust Hawthorns recruiters and as a Hawks fan you should too. They have given us nothing to doubt them lately regarding the draft. They have gone against the grain and selected bolters high up in the draft and nailed later selections. Have been one of the most efficient in the draft for a while.

And boy they needed to be because to be brutally honest we have been one of the least efficient on the trade table.

If the club wants to move a pick into this year and as you just said other clubs rate next year's and it's suspected it will be Top 3 then we are going to get ripping value for it and the club obviously can see something in this year's draft the others can't.

We will trade our first this year for somebody's first next yr. You read it here first

Hawks first and north second for team b's 2021 first, and 2020 second

Does anyone else just hear white noise right after they read the words 'You read it here first' or is it just me 😂

If were keen on next years draft then I can see a scenario where we trade wth Pies.
They have Daicos, who's tipped top 5 next year so won't need there 1st rounder
They would like a pick earlier than theirs this year so they can get in before a bid on Mcinness.
Therefore trade goes -
Hawks pick 4 this year and 2021 second? for collingwoods Pick 11 this year and their 2021 1st rounder.
Thoughts ?

Hmmmm maybe on draft night I wouldn't mind. If out pick rolls around and all our targets are gone already and we rate a few kids next year i could live with it. But I want us to have a crack at a few kids high up this year.

yep would all depend who we have our eye on. They might like Ford/Perkins and think they can get them with Pies pick, so we keep a first this year and pick up an extra next year. I reckon both clubs would do it. Would take the barracking against the Pies next year to a whole new level!

Can understand pies side but not enough for Hawks, could end up being 4 + 22(21) for 11 + 16 with the 11 this year being in reality more like 16 due to NGA.

That would be madness. We will trade in, no point delaying bringing in desperately needed quality youth and giving up our first good picks in years for worse ones next year.

So you want to trade pick 4 and 23 ish for 11 and 15?

So you want to trade pick 4 and 23 ish for 11 and 15?
yeah. We prob wouldn't have to add 23 though. just 4 for 11ish and 15ish. If we have our player we want at 4 though I wouldn't do it. Its just an option to get a future first and keep a first this year

Come at me.

Since our honourable 10 point loss to Port and Sydney's dismal (tanking) effort against Freo the ramifications draft wise is just ridiculous.

Round 13 draft hand
Screen Shot 2020-08-24 at 1.18.22 pm.png

We go from having 4159 points to 3913.

We go from picks 3, 21, 40, 45, 58, 64 to 4, 21, 41, 44, 59, 67 all with an honourable 10 point loss 😂

I'm not sure if anyone was keeping track but at one point during the game against Port and with us up by 3-4 goals we had the 6 or 7th pick. The heart was happy but the brain was saying 'WTF are you guys doing' 😂😂😂

I don't think we should be trading out our first rounders unless we're getting an unreasonably favourable deal.
Would love to know- do we have any NGA/father sons coming through the 2021 draft that we rate? If we did I'd rather trade out future seconds and thirds to try and move up the order/ get an extra pick in the top end this year.
If we can nail our first rounder this year (seems like the top 5/6 players are all relatively even/good) and try and trade up the order next year I can see us in a really strong position for 2022+

what are your thoughts on Macrae?
Mate, to be honest, I really don‘t know anything about the potential draftees apart from what I’ve read.

There are posters on the drafting forum, also Davo-27 on here, that actually watch a lot of these kids and know
something about them.

I just want the best kids to come play for the Brown & Gold

Great post bugs.

I hate the system - but it is what it is - we actually have to take advantage of it.

There is talk of them actually changing the system for next year, so we need to make hay whilst the Sun shines

How I hope the draft goes down (if the ladder stays the same):

Pick 1 (Adelaide): Logan McDonald
Pick 2 (North Melbourne): Will Phillips
Pick 3 (Western Bulldogs matched bid): Jamarra Ugle-Hagan
Pick 4 (Sydney): Riley Thilthorpe
Pick 5 (Sydney matched bid): Braeden Campbell
Pick 6 (Hawthorn): Elijah Hollands

How I think it’s going to go down:

Pick 1 (Adelaide): Logan McDonald
Pick 2 (North Melbourne): Elijah Hollands
Pick 3 (Western Bulldogs matched bid): Jamarra Ugle-Hagan
Pick 4 (Sydney): Riley Thilthorpe
Pick 5 (Sydney matched bid): Braeden Campbell
Pick 6 (Hawthorn): Nathan O’Driscoll / Denver Granger-Barrass / Will Phillips
