Okay so I'm out and about, not in my normal surroundings enjoying the sunshine when a young man of around 18 years old walks past with a young lady in tow. Looked somewhat the spitting image of one of the Fab five, down to the arthroscopic scars on one knee.
Looked to me as he has pulled up sore from his jog around in front of the club scouts the other day and had quite a scratchy action going.
Would have definitely been a scratching at the barriers in racing terms.
Buyer beware.

I think we'll be putting a line through his name. We just can't afford to stuff this pick up. A pity for the kid though.

Would be incredible if he drops to 24 as some are suggesting but I doubt this happens.
the Disparity in where he gets drafted is insane. Some have him going top 20, some scraping through top 35.
High key love the unknown nature of this draft atm.

So if Holland’s is ruled out, hopefully we go Perkins. We need that explosive big bodied mid that goes fwd and kicks some goal. Perkins has one of the highest ceilings in the draft more so then Phillips who will be a very good ball winner but not the mid that wins games off his own boot like Perkins has the potential of doing. Also more of a fan towards the taller big body mids then adding another 180cm mid. Of course though if we did draft Phillips I’d still be pretty happy as he is a good player as well.

They way the sport is heading this is something we sorely miss, I don't think anyone can dispute that.

The AFL recruiters said they were pretty happy with how his knee is going. Must of done a medical on him by now. Not saying you are lying or anything like that mate.

Without the vics playing it throws chaos into the next 2 drafts.

Jeka was rated really highly as a bottom age then had a poor year and slid to rookie draft. What if one of these top 10 were destined to do the same? Or the opposite like Clayton Oliver and come from nowhere to be a high pick. Issac smith the same.

No vfl for the mature age late picks.

Next year we could see some really impressive kids in the vfl that developed their body this year but couldn't put thier game on show.

In 5 years time there will be at least 1 absolute dud from the fab 5 i think. And a pick in the 60's will be in ranked as top 5 for the draft year.

You often get the most years I reckon though, but I think you make valid points about this years crop more than most.

Just thought I'd put it out there with 95% certainty that I had the right guy.

Subject to being 5% wrong.

Yeah, I feel similar.

Next years draft is the one to target, but there will also be some gems in this one(as well as some busts)....I guess the ol’ “you’ve got to be in it to win it” comes to mind.

I’m happy enough if we decide to take minimal picks or if we decide to trust our intel and grab a handful. Going to be fun to watch.

Matt Balmer throws darts.
Pretty sure I saw him on a podcast a few days back . Very knowledgable and spoke well but gee he hedged his bets on every answer he gave eg
Who should Hawks target with their first pick ? Rattled off 6-7 players
Should Hawks match Downie bid ? Went from maybe to yes to probably to maybe

This forum is good , we dont all agree but at least people will put out who they think we should get and why .

Thanks for sharing mate, that’s very interesting. Complete opposite situation to my run in with Perkins two days ago. He was looking absolutely prime and he is a very good size for a mid. He hasn’t missed a beat during lockdown I can tell you that much.

Which 3 players are you expecting to go to the Bombers?

I'd say Phillips, Perkins, Cox

Matt Balmer also said during the trade period when asked about Hawthorns link to Tom Phillips that 'no, not interested, Hawthorn need more inside players'.

There's a reason you haven't heard of Mr Balmer before. Because he knows nothing.

Perkins will be at Essendon. Don't be annoyed.

I don't think anybody will be annoyed from our fanbase (unless he's the best player in the game in 5 years time).

If we were the direct selection after the Bombers I could understand the disappoinment of missing him by 1 selection, but we'll back in whoever our team picks first on the night. Obviously we would rate him higher than Perkins if Archie isn't the one we pick.

Is this the guy? 🐳

Or is this him? 🐷

Agree. Think he slides.
Question for you TD. Assuming Hollands slides and McDonald falls to pick 4 and Dodo calls to offer picks 6 & 8 to get him with pick 4 would you be keen to take Perkins with pick 6 & then Hollands with pick 8?

This obviously assumes it goes like this after the * take McDonald at 4:

4) ESS - McDonald
5) GC - Phillips
6) HAW - Perkins
7) ESS - Bruhn
8) HAW - Hollands

If the scum pull a swiftly and take Hollands with 7 then we could then take Bruhn with 8 which would be a lot of others preference anyways.
