Gee I would love to even just see a goal kickers or bests listed
Christensen kicked 4 according to his brother's Tweet on the weekend.

Always hard to judge our depth against NEAFL sides but that's a good effort against an AFL reserves side, albeit a fairly average one I suspect.

Most of the Bulldogs players mentioned aren't too bad so a good hit out for our guys. Jordon Sweet was mentioned a few weeks ago as being a good target for us as a developing ruckman, 22 years old 203cm and 106kg, stuck behind Tim English.

Believe he was the kid Quigley mentioned.

And don't forget Schache ;)

Yeah I see him being a bit like Jacobs when he was stuck behind Kruezer. He does not have the mobility that English has but he is certainly a lot better in the ruck. I think when he gets the chance he will be a very decent AFL ruckman. He just needs to be smart when picking his next team to make sure he gets a chance to start.

Not sure if this should go in here but couldnt find the Academy section, was a neutral observer at South Pine on the weekend and heard after the game a couple of the Suns academy players were saying the were surprised how weak the Lions were on Sunday and one of their more vocal forwards was bragging how he was going to kick a bag in the next game on sunday at Labrador. Think you need to bring in some reinforcements ie Bruce Reville or Tozer if available to even things up. Carter Michael is a gun

Pescud or Colenso?

Unfortunately I believe the Suns academy is a long way in front of ours, largely due to the strong public school push in to AFL on the Gold Coast.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure bringing in an over age forward or winger will help.

We don’t have the inside mids to compete with Gold Coast.

Believe we would have to push Wischnat and Coleman in to the midfield to have a chance.

It is pretty cyclical and sometimes we have strong teams and others not so. For a long time the Suns Academy lagged because they simply didn't invest in it. If they are now that can only be good for Qld AFL.

With all that said it has been a while since the Lions have really strong group or even a prospect rated in the top 10. It would be hugely handy for one of those types to come along whilst we are picking at the lower end of the first round.

Will Ashcroft, 2022 draft. Captained Vic Metro U15’s last year. Elite schoolboy athlete. Already part of the 2022 draft discussion on the draft board.

Just need him to nominate us as a father son selection.

Thank **** he’s not in the Gold Coast academy any more.

#no pressure on the kid#

Yeah father son option there rather than academy but definitely looking like a very nice potential acquisition. Lets hope he does not do a Marc Murphy on us.

I was down at Yeronga again today to watch the grandsons game and our reserves were having a scratch match against the Kangaroos , only watched about 20 minutes of it while the junior game was on breaks.

1- Daniel Rich played and was his usual calm self.
2- Cam Rayner was kitted up to go but didn't catch him while I was watching.
3- Ballenden slotted a nice goal on an acute angel from around 35 meters, strong gusty wind too.
4- The game was up and about and the boys played with intensity.
5- Saw CEY, Christensen, Madden, Coleman, Payne do some good things, Christensen very vocal.
6- Payne was doing a good job on Majak Daw, Polec was his usual no contest self.

Sorry can't offer more the grandsons game took priority, BTW they won 120-0, off to my granddaughters 10th birthday party now.:shortcake::shortcake::shortcake::pizza:

An indicament on the club unfortunately that the only information on the reserves from the whole season are from supporters. I wish we got a clear reason for the lack of communication to reserves, especially when EVERY other club does something. Doesn't cost anything to do a 3-5 min of the coach just saying how they went.
Good news about the players. Wish Payne got more of an opportunity, if they don't play him when Gardiner and Andrews are there then when will he ever get an opportunity.

Who did we play; Kangaroos reserves or St Kilda's? The pics show Saints clash strip but you're stating we played the Kangaroos.

I'm confused.

We got there just before the game started and it was a kangaroos reserves team but there were 3-4 St.Kilda players in their club polos there as well, so used as fill ins, must have decided to use the St.Kilda kit.
