So it all gets down to how Greene fits. Is he the best fit for a 'hole' in the playing group.
If not secondary considerations might be, (a) an obligation to take an Academy kid, (b) to grow the game in Canberra. (that didn't work for Jack Steele, Josh Bruce).

Say Melbourne bid for him at three.
Do GWS have five minutes, in which to trade pick 6 for more points with lower picks, before nominating they will or won't match? A hectic 5!
Agree with the above.

And yes, the afl.com article said that we have the 5 minutes after a bid to trade then match - not long, so we'll need the deals set up before hand ready to go, and hope that the clubs don't stiff us.

Hopefully melbourne at least are honest about their greene intentions, try to trade 6 to Fremantle, or gold coast and get something else this year as well as Greene.I think we are a bit obsessed with high picks, I hope we start getting more players picked in the twenties, still pretty good players that won't want 350k or more for their contract as a third year player.

Well if we trade down, I would do 6,60 for 14,17 with Geelong.then 17,59 for 26,27 with north. We have 14,26,27,40, so presumably we lose 14, and 26 is downgraded.
We could also try for 6 for 14 and Geelong 2020r1, they might prefer that. They could be big sliders next year, We might get pick 8 or so. It means we don't get much else other than green this year, but that's ok.
I am sure our current list won't mind.

Ya gotta point. Jye Caldwell in particular would be looking for some clear space to get some form going.
We've sort of forgotten that last year, Captain Phil was bullish on him for a long term contract to keep him at the club.
Play the boy!!

This. That kid is great. Plus he has a turn of speed.
A midfield with Ward, Cogs, Kelly, Whitfield, Taranto, Hopper, De Boer, Caldwell, Hately with Greene and Williams if we need them is a midfield of accountable players who use the ball well and don’t exit stoppages running one way.

FWIW if we did this then the worst case (Melbourne bid at 3) we'd lose 14, and 26 would become 64. Not the worst situation that I've seen floating around

Any got quotes from the article?
The Giants’ offer to Cameron is similar to what Collingwood has offered Brodie Grundy — six or seven years at a fraction below $1 million a season.

No time line has been set for Cameron to commit, but both the Giants and Cameron’s management appear satisfied with the current talks.

“Currently, Jeremy couldn’t he happier with the Giants and living in Sydney,’’ McDonald said.
“Jeremy hasn’t put a time line on discussions (but) I’m sure it will all play out in time.

“I have left him alone over the break. He has been enjoying a well-earned break chasing the fish.’’
A renowned fisherman, Cameron’s has previously spoken about the ideal balance he has between his football career, his favourite hobby and his love of Sydney.
His girlfriend is also said to enjoy the Sydney lifestyle.
Concerns that he could be lured away from the Giants with a better financial offer a rival club are not apparent at the Giants.

GREATER Western Sydney's hunt for ruck depth has reached the south-west of Melbourne. The Giants already traded for Adelaide's Sam Jacobs, retained Shane Mumford and have developing big men Kieren Briggs and Matthew Flynn on their books but are eyeing another ruckman. The disclaimer is it might be another 12 months before GWS pounces but there is an outside chance Darcy Bennett's opportunity might arise next week.

Would think if things play out this way we will walk away with Young and Green and then a couple of guys very late in the draft with one possibly being a ruck.

Melbourne is expected to call out West Australian ruckman Luke Jackson’s name with Pick 3, considering drafting the tall instead of placing a potential bid on GWS academy prospect Tom Green. The Giants seem best placed to swap first round picks with Adelaide in order to use Pick 4, before potentially matching a bid on Green with the very next selection (Sydney’s Pick 5). The inside midfielder has been likened to Patrick Cripps, with Sam Flanders and Hayden Young among the players liked to their live selection. A bid from the Swans on Green seems most likely, with the club set to consider Vic Country trio Sam Flanders, Caleb Serong or Brodie Kemp with their first-round pick.

Jackson at 3 is crazy, they can have him. 199cm is a concern for me to take a ruck that early. Even if he the calls are right that he could develop into a fwd, we dont need him to play there.

He’s a unique player and has a high ceiling and is really high up on a number of boards. Prevailing view is the high quality talls are generally drafted high and this year there aren’t many options.

If we get ahead of the bid I’d be happiest with Young, then probably Jackson, Ash, Flanders.

We have a pretty balanced list but I wouldn’t mind some speed or an elite kick down back that is also a good intercept mark (Young).

Green’s video is up on the AFL website. His highlights package is very impressive with his work in close is as good as you will see.

He has unbelievable vision and touch. Getting him is an incredible coup.
Getting him and Young w

We’ll be taking Young for sure. There is no way known the Giants leave a kid who is that good a kick.
A draft haul of Greene and Young straight after we’ve played in a GF is outstanding.
