This year our backline (without talls) often included Shaw, Williams, Reid & Kennedy - plus Perryman (probably in a utility role). I'd expect two of those not to be there in 2021 (and possibly sometime during 2020), while it's possible that Williams gets played in the midfield at times, and Kennedy is perhaps another season or 2 behind that. So for mine there are guys like Cumming and potentially O'Halloran or Hately who could grab an earlier spot. At that draft range I wouldn't expect someone like Smith to come into calculations next season (whereas an Ash or Young would), so I'm just trying to judge where he would stand and whether he would likely be a possible target. Connor Idun another who the recruiters were very bullish about last year - at 191 cms but mobile.Could this be Cumming’s spot?

For 15, 20 and next year's 11, yes I think we'd take it if Adelaide and Melburne stand firmYou guys think you might bale on pick 6? Melbourne and Adelaide will want way too much to get to pick 3 or 4, and one of Adelaide or Sydney surely bids on Green. Geelong, Gold Coast or Brisbane could provide a nice package of lower first round picks, I reckon GC would offer the best deal with 15 and 20 plus 11 next year available.
I don't think GCS would offer that if your don't return a pick back. Your pick 12 and 18 get you pick 6. I can't see GCS offer future pick 11, 15,20 for pick 6 purely on calculation. For 15, 20 and next year's 11, yes I think we'd take it if Adelaide and Melburne stand firm
40 would be BA ideally a halfback who can hit a target, Delahunty is the other academy guy we are wanting, anything else a free hitHey guys apologies for the intrusion.
Im doing a mock draft and i have gws as my team.
Ive already picked green and now have pick 40 and a few in the 60s. Just wondering if you have any players linked to your club with later selection and any possible Academy selections apart from green.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Our draft is already up to picks in the 30s.
Thanks in advance
Oh beutiful, thanks D40 would be BA ideally a halfback who can hit a target, Delahunty is the other academy guy we are wanting, anything else a free hit
Pick 4 - Thomas Green (NSW/ACT) - GWS Giants
188 cm 85 kg
Midfielder
The comparisons Green has earned himself throughout the year are accurate, Patrick Cripps and Clayton Oliver. Like the two mentioned Green is an imposing size for a midfielder, using his smarts and size to dominate around stoppages and win contested ball. Not really a need or even best available imo but with a good fitness program Green makes for a scary prospect to come against.
Has the size and ability to play from Round 1 but with the GWS midfield depth may find himself in the NEAFL for half a season and come in as an impact player
Strengths: Ball reading, stoppage play, accumulation, inside game, disposal by hand, strength
Room for Improvement: Kicking, Versatility
Pick 40 - Noah Cumberland (QLD) - GWS Giants
183 cm 79 kg
General Utility
One I had pegged for this pick for a while, Noah is a great utility player who has shown potential in every third of the ground. His versatility is a real asset and has been shown with our use of players like Tomlinson Perryman, Reid, Kennedy, De Boer, etc. that Leon likes when a player can fill roles. Athletically gifted and determined I like his dash and long term see him playing as a Back Flanker or Winger, with his aggression and tackling he'll be good in either role. Surprised Brisbane didn't match as I think he's similar to Robinson in many ways, but more than happy with this result
Strengths: Aggression, tackling, speed, agility, contested ball, play reading
Room for improvement: Kicking, accumulation (if used as a rover)
Also considered: Joshua Shute, Flynn Perez
Pick 55 - Liam Delahunty (NSW/ACT) - GWS Giants
192 cm 91 kg
Tall Forward
Delahunty is one that seems to have dropped off the radar for most after a fairly inconsistent year, but remains my favourite pure draft age Tall Forward in the pool. Delahunty uses his elite speed to push off opponents and take marks on the lead and set up team mates in better positions. Averaged 2.2 Goals and 5.6 marks in Nab League this season, which is a good base to work with for a selection this late.
Strengths: Versatility, Speed, Marking, Disposal, Endurance, Agility
Room for Improvement: Consistency, Accumulation
Pick 58 - Joshua Shute (SA) - GWS Giants
187 cm 74 kg
Midfielder
Probably the most suited player to be a pure wing in the draft Shute really impressed me during the U18 carnival, winning high outside ball numbers and often setting up team mates inside 50 he's everything you want in a winger. Still lightly built he'll need a couple of years to develop but I truly believe he has Whitfield attributes with how he uses the ball, which our talls down forward will love.
Strengths: Disposal by foot, workrate, high production for outside player, football smarts
Room for improvement: Inside game, general athleticism
Also Considered: Angus Baker, Lochlan Dickson
Pick 60 - Angus Baker (NSW/ACT) - GWS Giants
191 cm 86 kg
General Defender
My favourite mature aged player as it stands, Angus has been putting up impressive numbers for Canberra this year as an intercept defender so I think he deserves a chance on an AFL list. I have hope that he can learn to play more as a general defender than third tall to fit our structure more, and if he could with his rebounding he'd be a real force at AFL level.
Strengths: Intercept marking, ability to read play, rebounding, accumulation for a pure defender, aerial presence
Room for Improvement: Agility, disposal by foot
Also considered: Lochlan Dickson
Good job on those PMB, I'd be happy if those were the real ones. (Which I don't expect, because we'll either trade ahead of the Green bid or down for better later picks.)All my selections for us so far in the Bigfooty Phantom Draft for those that haven't checked it out, happy to give further explanations if anyone wants, got 1 more pick to go, any particular type of player you'd want to see? I'm a bit stumped for it currently
I had the same thought believe it or not, and in my final phantom have us placing the bid. One I really like and as highlighted in my summary his versatility is something that I can see appealing to usI especially like the Noah Cumberland selection - when we had the chat a few days ago about Brock Smith vs Josh Shute, Cumberland was actually the guy I had in my mind as being a better option than either. To get both would be sweet - but Brisbane would surely match unless it's a ludicrously early bid.
Heeney at 2, next year Mills at 3. Crows have plenty of form bidding on academy & NGA players. This would all be wasted if Melbourne bid on Green. There is form with Heeney.
Swans are certainties, put a lot of time into him just in case you guys don't match.I still think no one will bid on Green before us.
Pick 82 - Josh D'Intinosante (VIC M) - GWS Giants
177 cm 78 kg
Small Forward/ Midfielder
The Northern Knight is one that has flown under the radar while continuously putting in high performances for someone of his height/position. Finished 2nd overall in the NAB League goal kicking, as well as two top two finishes in the Northern Knights BnF in the past two years, it's obvious this boy has talent and goal sense. Pretty stoked to get him this late, and as much of a cliche as it is "He's much higher in my rankings"
Strengths: Natural footballer, goal sense, forward pressure, scorebaord impact
Room for Improvement: Speed, General Athleticism
Also considered: Josh Gore, James Rowe

The AFL has confirmed that under its rules, a club in Fremantle's situation would be able to use its five minutes on the clock to trade picks with another club, move down the order, and then match the Academy bid with a later selection/s.
Afl probably wouldn't want either. We might need to add our 2020 second, or trade 6 for 15,2020 pick 11, gold coast 2020 second rounder.I don't think it's realistic either, was just responding to the situation put forward to me
Not entirely sold on that.
