I don’t think it’s that at all. Some players just get injured and a lot of the time it’s younger players - see Marchbank and cunners.

I don’t think it was due to lack of effort at all, some bodies just can’t cope with AFL standards
Did he do everything within his conteol to get his body right? The rehab sessions eta

Yeah if Jones or Weitering get injured, swinging Cas to defence is probably our plan B.

Some here will disagree but in a pinch and as essentially plan C, I think Marchbank could be used...don't think he'd offer any less as a KPD than Macreadie at least. This is only if 2 of Jones/Weitering/Casboult can't play for some reason.

Also hopefully we do pick up a mature KPD on the cheap though to round off our list before next year.
They may throw McGovern down back?

I’m abit like this. Macreadie imo is no more a KPP then Marchbank or even McGovern and at a stretch SOJ. All would be beaten by the bigger stronger forwards.

McCreadie is a bit of a surprise and not - at the same time. You'd think the Club has some plan(s) regarding a bit of KPP insurance. Glad Kennedy hasn't been totally cut- but he will be in the same boat as quite a few in '21 - having to prove themselves.

I reckon every season we are surprised at a certain player being delisted and always think another side will swoop in grab said player then turn them into a good 200 game footballer.
Hasn't happened at all recently and won't happen this year either.
All the best to those delisted I hope an opportunity presents elsewhere or playing in our VFL side perhaps.

I’d say your issue would be more with Danger as the players seemed to have chosen cutting list sizes rather than take a bigger pay cut.

Well I hate danger about as equally, so happy to take that issue up with him as well. But again, the point stems back to their needing to be a cut at all, which there does not.

If the AFL didn't have the funds to cover this brief downturn in revenue, it was negligent. Maybe if it stopped pumping so much money into useless endeavours like China games and other such bullshit then they could cover the core facet of the AFL - regular season male footy.

List as it stands as of today ...

36 Senior players (Kennedy included for now)
2 Category A Rookies
0 Category A International Rookie
1 Category B International Rookie
0 Category B Rookies
Right now our list is at 35/3/1 and we know that the list sizes are 38/4/2

We should take someone like Henry Walsh (or another ruck) + a key defender in the draft with picks 38 + 48 to make it 37 senior players. A key forward like McCarthy can be rookied (a total then of 5), and that leaves us with 1 senior and 1 rookie spot. Do we use them in the pre-season SSP?

Thanks for that. I'm not sure where Gibbons stands on that list, but as you mentioned it stands as of today, I will assume he is included with the 36 seniors.

With Kennedy becoming a rookie that becomes 35 senior players and we can have 38. It's 35 Seniors (including Gibbo). Kennedy has clearly been (or at least will be before the 1st List Lodgement next week) removed from the Senior List with our commitment to pick him in the rookie draft. If we count Kennedy as a rookie, we currently have:

35/3/1

With 3 senior spots (#38, #48, #78 or DFA) and 1 rookie spot available.
Also 1 spare Cat B spot if we find one.

The problem with Marchbank, is that he's played 48 games in 5 years - An average of 9.6 a year making him not quite reliable. Plus, it would be nice to have a project KPD seeing Levi and Jones are both in their 30s.

I'd be starting the season with 38/3/1 which would leave us 1 rookie spot for a mid season type draft for a flyer who hadn't played footy this year.

So in the main draft:
38 - KPD
48 - Small Forward
78 - Ruck

(Or a version of those 3)

Rookie Draft
R1: Kennedy
R2: Pass

Leaves 1 spare list spot
