I'd rather go into next season a man down than bring in McKernan.

And I feel that's a pretty big statement given I can generally find some redeeming qualities in most footballers.

He's no good. Completely useless.
Your hate for Corey goes back decades. Not cool.

Higgins for me would constitute an astute pick. If he is medically fit, he would be on top of my priorities ahead of Saad. We would be negligent if we didnt make enquiries. He is exactly the player we lack in our forward 50. Saad would be nice but we shouldnt let that trade dominate our time and effort as we haveoptions within our list if we are prepared to give them a chance

An astute pick for you....hopefully not Carlton.
A player with question marks associated to him, a big gamble.
Saad agree.

I don’t want to hear from him until it’s reported the player has a Carlton guernsey on less news although frustrating is better fir our club and our health

Yeah man... Enough talking shite! Go and get players that are gonna win us games. Its no longer about list development. I'll spew up if Polson is still on the list.

Medical....u even stated it!
Why even think it’s a good idea to trade for a player who may succumb to further issues.
He is not that good. Probably looks better at tiggers, than actually is.
You forget Higgins was very impressive prior to injury. Fantastic in forward pressure football brain and is a finisher Ticks all the boxes. Gaining him now where his trade value is low is smart list management. We can’t continue trading our first rounders to build a strong list

I'm a big fan of Higgins, and I'd be very keen on him if he's available.

Contracted through to the end of next year though so won't be easy, but he's not in the side at the moment so may see greater opportunities elsewhere.

Pretty confident nothing will happen here but can't hurt to ask the question.

Just watched a 2018 highlights video on J Higgins and tell you what, if he's available then just get him in.
Worth his weight in gold on the field and as a clubman. Seems very genuine. I'm on the bandwagon.
C'mon Austin and Liddle! Do your stuff and get this young man to the Mighty Blues so we can tear up the comp next year! Jet!

Would be very keen on him. Gun.

Don't think Richmond would want to loose him and he seems to love the club.

Majak Daw would be a better option than McKernan

I was going to post this the other day but chickened out so kudos.

We need a physically developed tall for defensive, ruck, tall utility depth. Daw would be reasonable insurance.

Just out of interest why would you say his trade value would be low ?
Pick #17 in a good draft in 2017 21 years old played 43 games and is a regular in the team , No real injuries but a medical condition that doctors have fixed and given ok to return to football with no risk.

Do we need a small forward if we get Saad and Williams?

Forwardline of:

Fisher Curnow SPS
Martin McKay McGovern

Backline of:

Docherty Weitering Plowman
Saad Jones Williamson

Ideally, we could do with one.

Fisher doesn't make for a forward.
He may have to make do and he will kick us goals playing forward, but he's not a great mark, he's not dual-sided and he doesn't have innate goal-kicking skills.

SPS is highly creative and on face value may make good playing in the forward line, but we don't really know for sure.

You can't always get what you want, but the search for genuine and creative goal-kickers and players that can win 1-on-1 battles, should still be on.

EDIT: I see Higgins is being brought up. He'd do nicely, but Tigers won't give him up.

If we somehow did manufacture an outcome of let's say - Williams, Saad and Higgins/Lonie, we would have done very well.
The names aren't the calibre of Oliver, Byrne-Jones and Papley but they would be perfect for needs and fit straight into ur starting team next year.

All this could be achieved whilst only using up our pick #7 this year and with a swap of firsts, it's not not inconceivable that we could retain a first this year and use it in the draft.
That would then leave us our 2021 1st along with he possibility of using our 2022 first for the absolute right target/s
That along with the right free-agent next year could complete what would be ne of the strongest squads around.

Development is still key, but if things panned out like this, we may have set ourselves up very well for the future.

I don’t think his trade value would be low. Still worth a late first rounder.

That’s not an issue of concern for us. The issue is whether we will get bang for our buck from him. Having said that it is a shame we haven’t trialled Cuningham in that defensive role. Maybe we could have avoided this trading melodrama altogether
Exactly! Cuningham is exactly the player throw back there.

His issue has always been finding enough of the ball, this way the ball comes to him.

I could have sworn he was drafted as a running half back.

He had a bit of a run down back. Wasn’t great. Drafted as a mid, that’s where he plays his best footy.

Cuners was a mid in his junior days and we have trialled him at HB.

Just doesn't read when to go, prop or peel

I wouldn’t say no but Higgins is another HF and would be competing more with Fisher, Martin, Cuningham etc
He isn’t a small forward in the sense of a goal kicker which we are looking for.
Which of our small forwards or mids hav kicked 15 goals and contributed to 15 goal assists in their first year of afl football? Really think he is the missing piece of the jigsaw puzzle. We don't need any more big bodied inside mids just finishers. We finished 5th for total clearances this season.

I would argue his best footy is played as a small crumbling forward.
At least it gets him near the ball.
