i dont wanna ruin the fun but come on guys. surely we have learnt our lesson with the whole cogs scenario

Crouch boys no thanks they get nothing disposals and dont impact a game.

Williams from GWS yes please has speed, can get it and disposal is good.

Be shocked if Port let Wines go with Boak, Rockliff and Ebert all in their 30's it wouldnt make sense to let Wines leave.

Agree re crouch boys, if their part of the worst midfield and one is getting dropped why do we want them?

May as well persist with Setterfield.

Wines I’d love, but will be tough to get out of Port.

Just watched him laugh his ass off at "Blues 2021" on his twitch stream so I'm guessing that's a no. Also said he wasn't going anywhere.

A bit of a "watch this space". I see JSOS similar to how I see Plowman at the other end. Both are virtual locks at the moment, but a change of dynamic
could easily see them usurped. JSOS is able to fill a number of functions/roles. Third tall, linkman and pressure forward rolled in is his prime role, but can
go through the midfield and is an effective stopper against opposition "bulls". With a three pronged tall forward line when fit Charlie, Harry and Gov, let
alone Levi for another couple of years and some developing ultra quick pressure players, it would be hard to see a spot.

Similarly Plow, as we phase out Jones over a couple of years, a genuine third tall interceptor/come undersized KPD in Marchbank. if fit, combined with
three or four mobile smaller types (Doc, SPS, Newman and Willo among others), the versatile stopper Plow may become less attractive than playing
Marchy and/or phasing in a Jones replacement (ie BSOS).

There is plenty to play out over the next year or two.

All valid points and for our defence it will depend how long Jones can keep going. He’s had no real serious injuries (assuming he’s ok now after the concussion) so no reason why he can’t go another 2 seasons at least and more likely 3.

Plow has the ability to play on different sized forwards and do a shutdown role, something we have lacked since, well probably Dean Rice really (though Plowman is taller). Remember when every small forward would tear us to shreds? Doesn’t happen as much now (though team defence being better helps, it still happened a lot even between 09-13)

As for JSOS, yes it depends on where he and others find their niche. He could be squeezed out and be like a 21-24th player who plays depending on match ups.

Hypothetical.

Fast forward to the seasons end and we've made finals. We face Essendon and definitely can't let them break their finals drought. Our entire list is match fit and ready.

What's your 22 look like?
Marchbank get a spot in the back? Newman? Who gives way for Charlie up forward? Do you drop Pitt for Krueze?

I do agree with what you say - I don’t want to say that currently any player would be second-guessing choosing us as their destination. I was only saying that if Papley were to nominate us again and the deal once more fall apart, it would surely add a glimmer of doubt for future players.
I’d love to think that players/agents would look further into the situation and understand that it was largely out of our hands - but I was only stating that I don’t want the stigma of being the club who can’t get the deals done.
The part of your post that I agree with the most is the part where you say that we the fans place far more emphasis on this stuff than the players would.
Never a truer word spoken.

You also have to factor in the Swans needs here.

If Papley's priorities are Melbourne/Carlton, in that order, Swans would be more open to the better deal, Papley, still achieves his number one priority

Whoever has the best form, leading into said game

Personally we would be playing someone else as I can't see the scum making finals 😉

whats the go with marchy...where does he fit best ?

Maybe play on the wing?

Great endurance. Needs to work on his disposal a bit, but in saying that, he could drift back as a spare in defense and give Docherty more freedom to run off him man and set up plays.
