Great post.

Wouldn't surprise me if Papley and Sydney came to an agreement. Papley to stay on in 2020 and give his all, cause no disgruntled riffs and be professional. Sydney grant his wish and cash in as best as they can.

If we have a pick 5-10 i would suggest that and maybe a 2nd or 3rd gets it done.

Clubs and players aren't dumb. They dont want to damage their own brand. Last year didn't work. And if Papley has made it clear, watch Sydney release him for a nice deal for them.

I suspect he will be in blue next year
Don't get my hopes up. İt'd be too cruel.

No thanks.
I’m no expert, but M Crouch seems to me to be the epitome of “Empty Stats.” Gets a lot of cheap handball receives and gives off a lot of dinky sideways kicks. Doesn’t seem to do a lot of damage with it.
If he was a free pickup on a cheap deal he’d probably be worth a look, to see if his style of play could be adjusted. But wouldn’t be giving anything meaningful for him.
Happy to be convinced otherwise, as I confess to not having seen a tremendous amount of the Crows.

The problem with Adelaide is their mix of midfielders don’t complement each other. I actually rate Matt Crouch as he brings other players into the game, is fairly tidy by foot and gets a fair amount of clearances. He’s dangerous when he can work in tandem with dynamic players who can feed off him, which clearly Adelaide don’t have. Problem is that he’s very 1-dimensional...wouldn’t be against taking a look at him.

Question for all of us armchair list managers:
If all things were equal (length/$ of contract) and we could choose between them, would you prefer Saad or Z. Williams at the Blues? And why?
Williams - cause he can go to the middle and hit scoreboard -- if he started his career with us Ed would be surfing ( no offence to Ed)

Williams would be better but Saad is probably more gettable (and cheaper) - wasn’t there a Carlton connection with him?

Hard to imagine Adelaide went into a grand final as flag favourites just three years ago with a midfield of Crouch, Crouch, Sloane and Atkins and MacKay on the wings. There is so much more to a good team and building a side then just the names on paper. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a side fall apart to such an extent because of a failed culture. (I’m not even sure culture is the right word)

is jsos a lock in forward group in future?

if we get a papley type and philp stars and cements a forward position and we get a decent mid which will mean martin will also line up on forward line and we get charlie back where does jsos play?

for example we could have the following set up:

papley (eddie) mackay gov (philp)
martin charlie (cas) cunners

other current options: jsos kennedy lang

A bit of a "watch this space". I see JSOS similar to how I see Plowman at the other end. Both are virtual locks at the moment, but a change of dynamic
could easily see them usurped. JSOS is able to fill a number of functions/roles. Third tall, linkman and pressure forward rolled in is his prime role, but can
go through the midfield and is an effective stopper against opposition "bulls". With a three pronged tall forward line when fit Charlie, Harry and Gov, let
alone Levi for another couple of years and some developing ultra quick pressure players, it would be hard to see a spot.

Similarly Plow, as we phase out Jones over a couple of years, a genuine third tall interceptor/come undersized KPD in Marchbank. if fit, combined with
three or four mobile smaller types (Doc, SPS, Newman and Willo among others), the versatile stopper Plow may become less attractive than playing
Marchy and/or phasing in a Jones replacement (ie BSOS).

There is plenty to play out over the next year or two.

It can fall apart quickly just like it did for us when finished 2nd on the ladder in 2000 to Wooden Spoon in 2002............ we went from powerhouse to no house at all and are still rebuilding since then.

Really over the Papley sh*t

Dogs bat deep in the midfield, yet all of them find a spot in the team, where they can rotate through multiple positions

Pretty simple isn't it
Dogs also underperform most games. Last year and this year they were a much better team on paper than how they played.

How much of that is due to lack of continuity of playing a position and is because of being thrown around at bevos whims.

papley seems out of reach now

Interesting comments regarding our trade attempt on Tom Papley. Sounds extremely unlikely now.

Still got no idea what he is on about. How do you play your hand too early?

Ridiculous notion. Never early enough.

I do understand people getting sick of hearing about Papley though.
Papley, Papley and more bloody Papley :)
