Then you have to trade Marchy as that is same role he plays down back

We can’t recruit a player via trade and then play them in a position we recruited another player for.

That’s poor list management imo

Plus we’ve got Creeds who is starting to show some form in the 3rd tall intercept role as well, Marchy is still struggling to get his body right and it is hurting us not having him or someone like him in the back half as it tends to give Jones 2 jobs one as a shut down KP and the other as an interceptor which is not working as Jones can’t do both as he is no J McGovern.

We would then have options. Marchbank and McGovern are always injured anyway

Curnow to a wing.
McGovern's aerial ability is far to valuable to the forward line.
Be it as a link player up the ground or a threat in 50.
The game on the weekend showed just how important he is.
I think a key answer to our balance issues is turning McGovern into a key back/interceptor. Seems perfect for that role, reads the play well, great hands and neat skills.

Curnow, McKay, Levi and Silvagni in the forward line.

Jones, Weitering, McGovern as key defence with Marchbank as back up pending his body.

Thoughts?

In my view he doesn't get a enough of the ball in the forward line. Would be much more relevant as a defender.

After reading some of the rubbish in the Reserve player review today I feel very sorry for some of our young players who look confused and struggling.

The coaching philosophy of strip them down and rebuild them is so dangerous.

Keep all our kids and replace some of the coaches with others who can build on the players strengths.
That’s the fastest way of replacing the older players who are close to cooked.

Do whatever it takes to get Williams.

I would have played Williamson on him. Plowman is not quick enough for these types of players.

He shouldn't be immune to critism, he regularly cost us easy goals by giving cheap free kicks. His contest with Stepheson on the flank was embarrassing.

He is not in our best 22. McGovern needs to go back next year to allow Charlie, Harry and Casboult to play forward.

the same Williamson that got chopped up by Thomas?

So let’s drop our senior players so we get flogged by 10 goals each week.

How is getting flogged every week going to help our “player development“?

We did that under Bolton for 3 years FFS.
Did I just read right? Playing Ed,Murphy and Simmo makes us a 10 goal better team? Seriously?. Why haven't they been rested? You are comparing the now with the past where we had an abundance of raw teenagers. Macreadie and LOB aren't 18 year olds. Honey has the size and attributes we need We didn't have one player playing from last years draft. Our coaching lacks imagination with the exception of throwing Pittonet in the forward line.

The same Honey that had 4 possessions and 1 tackle in an entire game???

With the soft cap coming down give kruz a list spot and offer him the ruck coaching role as well.

MK is a smart man with interests outside of football. If the fire still burns he may be open to it. Rookie a young ruck in the meantime

Not sure the cap works like that. Splitting salaries across hard and soft caps. ;) We will be fine with TDK as 1, Kreuz as 2 (running in the twos sparingly or emergency), Pitto in reggies.

Nothing to lose giving MCGovern a try as a defender.

Ok experts how do you explain this?! We beat Geelong, we thrashed the Bulldogs, we were very lucky to beat Essendon but we got belted by Collingwood and Hawthorn. Hawthorn has just got pantsed by the winless Crows.
Seriously, where are we at and, if we get beaten by the Crows, then another major overhaul is called for, starting with the Coach.

Yeah go for it taking pot shots at a first gamer playing up the ground in difficult low scoring conditions with minimal game time. Judging him on stats alone Murphy is irreplaceable.

Welcome to footy - there would be bizarre result 'chains' like the above every single year.

Calling for a major overhaul on the back of one result is absurd.

We're an up and down team. Hence the reason we are mid table.

We had 6 more scoring shots than Essendon, I'd say they were lucky we didn't put them away by more.

Also, wouldn't say we got belted by Collingwood. We were in the lead in the last quarter and fell away with our intensity when we lost the lead.

Losing to Adelaide doesn't call for a major overhaul at all...

Teague needs to be given some time to prove himself. So far he's done a pretty good job given the cattle he's got to work with. All this "No plan B" talk I've been hearing since we had Dennis Pagan. You can't have a plan B when you don't have the players to make plan B work...

On the Caldwell front i dont want another bloke who cant kick.

He kicks at about 51% efficiency

Walsh 54% kicking efficiency
setters 52%
cripps 49%
Curnow 47%
Murphy 60% (solid)

compare this to the geelong midfield
dangerfield 54% (not great but kicks it 14 times a game, no one in our midfield does that)
guthrie 68%
menegola 58%
duncan 65%
selwood 58%

carlton 5 average: 52.4%
geelong 5 average: 60.4%

so kicking in the midfield is a massive issue and some of you are saying we should go after caldwell who is another bloke who statistically cant kick. Umm, no thanks. Its a pass for me on caldwell and especially for a first or second. Cant expect our forwards to kick goals when the kicking effectiveness from our mids is this poor.

would like to add that martin kicks at 66% and cunners 57

It’s not on the back of one capitulation. What about the other capitulations this season, alone? The fact is that we should be further advanced now.

I would sack every player too right now actually, let's not even wait for the Crows game, sure they will belt us

"If we get beaten by the Crows..."

That is the very definition of acting on the back of one loss....which hasn't even happened.

Where did you have us finishing this season?

Would absolutely target Liam Ryan over Papley, every day of the week

Curious as to your reasoning behind this Sir, I can't help but think there is all flash, no substance to Ryan's game.

Least Papley is a solid, known and consistent quantity.

Bit surprised many here have turned off Papley in recent weeks tbh.

Not turned off, just don’t want to over pay. I don’t think he is the panacea. Time and patience is a cheaper fix.

We could say that about almost every player

No we can't.

Ryan is from Western Australia, he's playing in a side that are contenders and we will not put forward the type of money that would be enticing enough to persuade him to leave.

Papley is a Melbourne boy. They are both the same age, Paps has kicked more than twice as many goals as Ryan and looks like he wants to leave.

Not to mention the fact that Ryan has been receiving delivery from a high quality midfield compared to the average midfield that Sydney has. Paps still has managed to kick more goals then Ryan this year too.
