Melbourne appear to have a decent bunch of assistant coaches and even players, so how on earth have they won 8 of their last 31 games after tonight?

Because Melbourne are a mentally weak football club who have been serial underachievers for the last 50 years.

Melbourne supporters refer to it as the Norm Smith curse.

After sacking Norm Smith, Melbourne went from one of the most successful clubs in the league to becoming a mentally soft team that's only made the finals about 12 times since 1964.

Even Paul Roos couldn't turn that club around.

The Tony Modra curse?

They did what they always do.

Couple of good performances, drink bathwater then come up against a pretty good unit and get flogged. If It wasn't for Max Gawn they'd barely have scored.

Cornes is full of horsesh&t

This idea that fans who do not show up to support their team are somehow better because of it—-is the kind of garbage I would expect a Port fan to dream up. That he does only must show he has lost his fastball...as we might say this way.

Not showing up when your team has a down period is the very definition of a fair weather fanbase.

How he twists that into somehow being better is pure insanity.

Apathy is nary a characteristic of a smart fanbase.

He can kiss my American a@&

:)

I agree but with on exception that is playing out at our club right now. You support the team to the point that a statement needs to be made to the club that is effectively short term pain for long term gain. To enable the sorely needed change in culture, the club needs to be bought to its knees and the only way to do that is for fans to vote with their feet. If we had voting control, we could wait for the AGM, but all we have are to the club is $ and attendance figures. So that's all we have to impact change.

Checked it out, most recent tweet is a solid analysis of Melb's kick in structures. Would love to read his take on our kick ins.

Adel: 2012-present - Set play from kick in is to play on, run 20m into right pocket then kick to right flank. Sometimes switches it up by running 15m into right pocket and kicking to right flank.

Fine tuned for you.

Port spent more petrol tickets as they fly back home today, spend a few weeks hone, after about month not leaving sa. Melbourne playing the long game. They play a hard physical brand of footy and had 4 days break and play 4 games in just over 2 weeks, all from hotel rooms. They probably underestimate port as well. Port ain't beat anyone of note yet.

And the commantstors pretty shit last

Daisy daisy what are you gonna do.
Your demons are shit and your commentry is also poo

Sounds like you fell off your carriage.

Nicks is successful?

With that logic Craigy can claim Goodwin.

It's just that Bicks used his playing days under Roos to bump up his credentials which otherwise really only includes Hinkley and Cameron. If that's not highly valuable then there really isn't much reason that Nicks would get a head coaching gig. Let's hope he's an outlier like Clarko in terms of his pathway to senior coaching.

Is he seriously that devoid of a life that he’s going back through Tweets from 4 days ago to try and make his point about that ridiculous article he wrote yesterday? 👎

I don't understand the point Kane is trying to make?

It's like he's completely forgotten the tarp years at Aami Stadium, and the crowd drop-offs at Adelaide Oval post 2014

He hasn't. It's that he's trying to turn that into a positive. Apparently the better supporters are the ones who give up when their team is going shit because it sends the message they won't accept mediocrity.

Well we have been saying for a while it's the only way things will change at the AFC. We don't have a say in any other facet, only thing you can do is vote with your wallet and not turn up.
I understand that argument but it is hardly a badge of honour for the club to wear proudly........we have the smallest crowds so our supporters have the highest standards????

I wonder if he considered the financial drain that has caused on his club?

Port supporters are taking too much out of last night. Melbourne were as close to uncompetitive as a side could be at AFL level.

Goodwin should go from Melbourne. I think that 2018 Prelim looks more a fluke than anything.
