Nobody is entitled to a job in the AFL. It's a cut-throat industry. The ones who don't make it, and don't get media gigs, have to work in the lower leagues or get a regular 9-5 like normal people.

Wallace is having a whinge about the media and while I agree they're scumbags, they're ultimately catering to the tastes of the general public. If they didn't sell papers, get clicks etc. from that kind of material, they wouldn't go there.
I'm sure the media guys won't be out of work the entire rest of their lives

I for one actually liked the post for the interest factor, not for Wallet's position on the matter.
How is it interesting to point out the obvious about the media being trash?

The problem is that the people like trash. Just look how many people tune into shows like MAFS. I know doctors who watch that show so it's not just the dullards who feast on steaming piles of crap.

Trying to compare the normal run of the mill sacking of a coach to what's going on right now is a load of bullshit. Half the time, coaches get cushy media gigs after they get sacked, many of them get deals as assistants at other clubs. People who are losing their jobs right now, many of them can't just go and get a new job as so much of the country is shut down.
I agree. Terry showing he has no idea what 'normal life is like. When a coach is sacked, they don't have to deal with a 4w payout on $60k a year, and shouldn't be battling finances.

BTW, I hate bats. They fly over our place at night and go for the gum trees and palm fruit in plague proportions.

Anyone know how to get rid of them? All joke(r)s aside

This works, but only temporarily effective. The bat will eventually Rise.

A mate of mine did his PhD on bats. I used to go out with him at night sometimes to catch them. We generally would go out onto crown land in semi rural locations and string up nets between trees

I wonder how my neighbours would feel about me climbing their trees and stringing up some nets. I'm sure to hear from the council that they are protected and my fine is in the mail

Not a fan, but good on Malthouse for speaking out about the inequality of the AFL.

Two-time West Coast Eagles premiership coach Mick Malthouse has called for the AFL Grand Final to not be played at the MCG, arguing the sport is too “Victorian-centric”.

On Saturday, Malthouse condemned AFL officials for making their decisions based on Victoria’s strict coronavirus restrictions, while it could potentially be easier and cheaper to recommence the premiership somewhere else in Australia.
The game is on lockdown due to the coronavirus and with a late restart meaning the season could finish as late as December to get the 17-round season in, Malthouse said the AFL needs to look elsewhere to get the game back on the field.
With Victoria under stage three restrictions until at least May 11, hubs in other states have been heavily debated.

During a spray on Sports Talk on ABC Radio, the 66-year-old three-time premiership winning coach asserted his was filthy with the AFL’s organisers, calling for them to “grow up” and take in consideration the needs of other states.
“I am so filthy, and I have been since I coached West Coast, that everything is so Victorian centric,” Malthouse said. “We are in a national competition, if the game is played in Perth, play it in Perth.
“I get so annoyed, even what Sheedy said ‘play 28 games’. He’s a bloke that’s coached predominantly in Victoria and he put his toes in the water in Sydney, to play that many games it’s going to penalise Western Australian clubs. You can’t have that many games without a number of injuries.
“It’s the same with (AFL football operations manager) Hocking about reducing the number of players. He hasn’t taken into consideration one iota about how difficult it is to keep a team travelling and on the ground from the West, which is the clearly the hardest travelling times.
“I’m filthy on the Victorian-centric, this has all gotta be about Victoria. It’s a national competition, play it where it best fits Australia, not necessarily Melbourne. I am born and bred in Victoria, and I love Victoria, but we’ve got to grow up.”

I'm led to believe if nobody is injured in an accident and details etc are exchanged between the involved parties which according to the article took place the Police don't need to be involved. Pretty obviously somebody outside of the parties involved brought the Police into it? Smith wasn't fleeing from my read on it as he wasn't involved in any way in the accident, his involvement at that point was only the fact that one of the cars impacted was owned by his girlfriend's parents?
All incidents involving property damage must be reported to the police regardless of injuries.

I've got that uncomfortable feeling you get when somebody you dislike makes a good point.

He’s one of only 2 I can think of that’s in a rare position of being:
1. An interstate premiership coach
2. A big V club premiership coach
3. A premiership player
4. A Vic darling

Leith Matthews the only other I can think of.

They better than anyone can understand the unfairness of the AFL and the leg up you get as a big aMelb club.

Needs to use his position to battle this. Lethal could do much more too

I can't see Matthews speaking up on this somehow, he's too much a part of the system.

Doesn't mean you can't leave the scene if nobody is injured, and it can be reported the next morning if it happens overnight.

That's the case in SA (and you can do it online if the damage is minor) but in Vic if you can't contact the owner you have to go straight to a police station looks like. Since he hit so many cars at least one of them was probably not there.
