ROB 24 and played 20 games...

The idea that we systematically stunt the development of players is wrong.

There is definitely an argument that English might have also been left in the twos one season too long as well, but there's no evidence to suggest the he would likely end up a worse player here than there.

And up until 2018 we had a Ruckman in Sam Jacobs that was in the top 3 or 4 ruckmen in the AFL....The Bulldogs had?

The last half decent Ruck they had was Will Minson about 5 or 6 years ago, since then they've had a mix of "part timers" Jordan Roughead (KPD/KPF/Ruck), Jackson Trengove (KPD/Ruck) and Tom Boyd (KPF/Ruck) until Tim English came along....see the difference?
Every possibility English still wouldn't have got a shot if Tom Boyd didn't exit the stage.

You would have seen this at first hand in the US, some very talented teams that do sweet f**k all. Doesnt matter what the sport is.

If the AFL broke up GWS, Suns and spread that talent around Australia, we would have a far superior competition to view.

Essendon's 2 best mids were out tonight Dylan Shiel and Dyson Heppel, both in the top echelon of mids in the AFL, doubt the Dogs mids would have had it all their own way like tonight if they played.

Lucky the Dogs still have Dunkley to come back in into the midfield. And Jong was getting midfield minutes before he got injured again the other week.

The AFL should have created a legitimate 2nd tier development league.
Having an 18 year old running around should be a rarity not the norm.
Some AFL games feel like a juniors game, they have spread the talent to thin across the league. I would much rather see mature hardened bodies running around. No AFL till your 21, only one under 21 can play in any given year is what I would prefer (this relies on a legit development league though)

It was clear Charlie gave the forward line something quite similar to Eddie but in the beginning stages of his career as opposed to the latter stages.

How they did not ensure he stay is beyond me.

Having a shortend 17 round season could massively benefit us with regards to the Western Sydney pick. If they drop this game they have Richmond next week which could put them in a pretty grim spot with only 9 games remaining.
