Dunno why we're being so defensive, it's good honest constructive criticism. I would think the players would be very interested in hearing it. Added incentive to make sure they are maximising their opportunity.

I think we'll have the talls to stretch the defence. Opposition will still have to respect King, our resting ruck and say a Battle type. Focus on Membrey too much, and we should have the cattle to hurt them for it.

I hope all team's have only 1 good defender , anyway having 3 marking options is better than 2 - King , Membery and Battle are all mobile tall's and having Hill , Billings feeding them should make a big difference.

Who will kick the goals - well If King plays forward I would expect him to kick as many or more than his brother kicks and he cops your so called best defender.
So Max should surely kick more than 1.2 goals a game. ---- expecting 30 goals

Membery should kick his average of 2 goals a game. ---- 50 goals

Battle never played forward last year but the year before when he only played 6 games before injury he averaged 1.2 goals a game and I would expect Battle to get a far better result when playing in the forward line this year. ---- expecting 35 goals , even more if he has a good year. - he has kicked 3 in a game once which is not bad for a kid who has hardly played in his preferred position.
(remember Bruce only kicked 36 last year)

Also we now have some proven small goal kickers in Butler who averages 1.2 goals a game and even Kent averages around 1.2 over his career.
Also Billings , Gresham , Hannerbery are all goal kickers and I'm not even going to mention guys like Marshall , Ryder , Steele , Ross , Savage or anyone else who has scored a couple goals.

We also have to take into account Rattens game style which was shown when he took the reins when the team kicked over 100pts which they had not achieved for a hell of a long time.

The knockers might say not having Bruce will hurt us , well we had Bruce last year and it didn't help to much - only kicking over 76 points 5 times out of 23.

I don't know how we will go next year or who will even play in our forward line , but all I know is we have a better squad with far more options - who's to know Joyce plays in the forward line and kills it.
After watching Marshall last year I'm expecting Battle to be the next guy to explode next year and I'm not even expecting to much from the future super star in Max King until a couple more seasons and god knows how good we will be then.

Actually it often seems that defensive forward role is a career buster.

Newnes issue wasn’t the role he was asked to play. It was his half hearted effort & lack of ability.

Shit delivery doesn't account for all the easy marks dropped, his terrible field kicking, habit of missing important goals and being the catalyst for turning around Liam Jones career. I think thats just him as a footballer. At his best he is a dominant, contested marking full forward but his best only comes out once a month while he teases every other week.
