Then there is something cooking then.. if thats what we are happy to accept. Firstly theres more to the story than we know and secondly Gonzo is cooking up a feast.. or thirdly, we are stupid

I’m also neither here nor there if he is in the blue and white next season, we should remunerated properly for the trade though.

I think they were allowed to take an extra 10 players as part of their concession last year but didn't take the full amount. Their academy is insane when it comes to talent. All of NT and other areas too.

The calls that Higgins is worth a first rounder from Geelong are embarrassing to say the least. Packaging him with Polec for a first rounder at least resembles something within the realms of possibility.

If he meant bizarre in terms of
we should have signed him up on massive bucks and a long contract (because that is what he was holding out for and what we would have had to do to get him to sign) with full intentions of traded him out with a more leverage, not sure that would have been the honourable thing to do. Even if we were prepared to shaft one of our players like that, I’d suggest with hindsight it would have backfired because of the season he had. We did the right thing by being honest and open and telling him he is not in our plans going forward. In the long run I think that the club did the right thing and will benefit by maintaining trust with the current playing group. Even if I does cost us a little.

Ferbs - its a first rounder next year from them plus an upgrade on our first this year - ie we net a first rounder plus some.

We would get 2 picks inside 6 this year (2 and 6) and most likely have 2 picks inside 6 next year.

It's a fair deal.

Both of you are assuming * with Brown still give us a pick worth 9 ( or 6 as sbg thinks might happen.) A functioning full forward might be just what they need. This year they drew with GC, lost two games by under a goal, to Richmond by 2 goals, WC by 2 1/2 goals and the GODees by 19 points. With a fit, firing Brown they could have won at least three and maybe five of those games which puts them just outside or inside the eight.

If * get Brown next year they may not end up with a top ten pick. It's not a pleasant thought but it needs to be considered with any swap involving next year's picks.

Anyone Brown goes to should move up the ladder, the lower they are the further they move IMO. So swapping next year's picks will be swapping for a lower pick than this year.
