I know alot of people will not like this, but we are potentially a Daniel Talia type player away from winning a flag. As much as I have disliked him and the fact that he will be 29 next year.

The Crows are rebuilding, we would probably have to over pay for a 29 year old but it would take us from being a finals contender to a genuine flag contender imo

Look at the age profile of this list, bringing in a 29yo isn't the answer here

I get this, but if it gave a chance at winning a flag or even multiple flags in the next 3 years, surely you would look at it

If he was OOC I'd be somewhat interested.

Ports aren't in any position to be weakening draft capital

They'd want a ridiculous price for him, not to mention he'd give away 3 goals a game for holding his opponents jumper if he played for us.

while ive liked mckenzies season, he really isnt waht we need down back. we need a 196cm plus key back. The cannon shoudl be competing with clurey for a spot..i would have added jonas but you dont drop your captain.

Talia is a very good suggestion. My opinion on whether it’s a good idea depends on where we finish this season. If we are 9th again there is no point but he would cost almost nothing in a trade, except dollars, and instantly improve our side.

Zac Williams’ worth to us also increased yesterday.

Ever since Dougal Howard's gone, I reckon at the end of the season you should bring back Jackson Trengove. He's been decent at the Dogs, can backup at the ruck and is a strong one on one player when needed and he's out of favour at the Dogs in Bevo's system having not played a game since last year. Talia is also a good option, a KPD who plays on gorilla types but is a bit slow for the fast athletic KPFs and you can have Clurey playing on the fast leading KPF types.

If you want an intercepting defender, then you could go after Aliir from the Swans. If you think Moore's coming to you's then your dreaming.

Yeah **** it, why not. If all we're after is a tall depth KPD, Jacko can do that, and we already know he's a great clubman.

No, we need a quick intercept marker. Thats why we tried Howard in defence.

Talia, Clurey, Jonas is as bland as it gets. They don't offer enough going the other way.

We could try for Moore but I don't think it will happen.

None of this is a priority though. We only talk about this being a problem when the midfield gets smashed, we should be talking about the midfield.

I'd be all for Trengove on the cheap, is he OOC this year?
He is, possibly get him as a delisted free agent ?

I love the guy but Trengove was cooked before he left
He probably wont get back to career best form, even if he was depth only he is such a great clubman. Couldn't find a better guy in that role.

We really need to pinch a really good tall defender like Hawks did with Brian lake.
Lake was 30 when Hawks brought him in, but with a few guys the ages they are (Like Gray not really looking like he is got another 12months in him at the moment) you would have thought the time to have a go at someone like that would have been last year (Especially after trading Howard out).

Moore would be a good get, but would cost an absolute fortune and not sure we should be giving that up for an injury prone player. (Both trade value and salary)

You don't even need to chase a star. Do what Jack Cahill used to do and identify a reasonably talented tall who could be turned into a defender.

Collingwood picked up Jordan Roughead with a 4th round pick and he has become a handy defender with them.

Someone hinted at Ladhams to defence, the more i have thought about that the more intrigued i have become.

He isn't playing in the twos and developing as a ruck this year anyway, so is it worth a shot at some point this year as it gets him into the side where he can cary some of the ruck load (instead of Hoff) ?

Clearly has the size and strength and 202cm and 101kg and has phenomenal agility and pace for a big man.

It's a much easier position to play than forward, which is why so many failed forwards end up becoming solid defenders. Still think Watts could do a very good job for us back there.

So why are people so keen on Harrison Petty? Hasn’t played much at the demons...

We have the much spoken about gap in our age profile. So we either forget about it and keep bringing in draftees or young lads, or we pinch some to feel that gap.

We need genuine ball winners in the centre, preferably with some pace, another tall or two, and another good kick.

Throwing some options:
- Wines for Paddy Dow + pick exchange
- Brodie Smith - ridiculous but would give us pace and skills
- Matt Crouch - kinda Rockliff replacement, also ridiculous
- Hateley fits the bill and may not cost too much
- Schache as a forward option

Mind you, I think we have some options within our list that are worth trying. Burton to the midfield - the guy has speed and skills, no reason he can’t make the change and would really give us something different in there. Watts into the backline, has the height, speed and skills to match up with most and frees up McKenzie, Clurey and Jonas.

Marking key position defender won't be easy in the draft. That weakness was exposed v the lions lastnight.
Small fwd.Sam Grey has left and Motlop is towards the end.Livewire indigenous player like Ryan or Cameron.Might be available somewhere in a tier 2 competition.
