I haven’t heard the interview so don’t know the context but this irks me too. Willkie is good enough defensively to play on pretty much anyone, but the West Coast game showed the problem with Wilkie as the second tall. It’s fine if the opposition only has two talls, but when Coffield has to take Oscar AllenPretty frustrating to hear Gags mention Wilkie when talking about our key defender stocks. They don’t seem too phased by a second key defender. Surely that’s because Carlisle will be staying.

It was Matthew Lloyd who brought up Taranto on Footy Classified and said he was at the top of our wishlist. Caro just said she has heard similar
Brad is a far superior footballer and extractor compared to his brotherI think we're all missing some statistical analysis and some fly on the wall conversations.
My best guess.
At the Crows Brad (all things be equal, injuries game plan etc.) would be the third choice inside mid behind his brother and Sloane otherwise he plays more outside/link.
Without stats on when he has played as the sole inside mid.
His role at the Saints would be very different, either 1st or 2nd inside mid, given that Steele has a greater range of roles/abilities.
The competition isn't simply for Seb's spot it's whether that role exists at all in a stronger midfield.

Mate I fully agree with you, that's why I said in the post I hope Carlisle stays.
he played 2017
I don't think we have anything to get Taranto out of there this year. It would need to be a godfather deal paying complete overs for them to accept it considering the amount of players who have already walked out this year. There are wishlists and then there is what is doable.
Contacted till end of 2022, and GWS are now free of Cameron's salary of so their money squeeze will not be as tight.
So what could we realistically actually offer that would see GWS ok to let Taranto go when they have 2 more contracted years?
We don't have the picks to tempt them.
We don't really have any player that we would be willing to let go that would temp them either. They do not need Billings. But yes would take a Marshall or a King, but we would not let either go.

Our best bet is we have put in some early work and opened up those lines of communication regarding a potential move for when he comes out of contract.
I am a bit weary of favourising players who were Saints fans as kids, as we've just seen with Caldwell this is their job and their loyalty is to their dependants and their bank balance (not a criticism btw). Yes Max Kingand who knows even Ben one day are likely to be drawn more strongly to the Saints and I do like the romance, but my point stands.PLAYERCARDSTARTMultiple players found. It's the same as drafting kids with tenuous familial links to the club - see The Depressing Case Of Nicholas Winmar, but whether it's brothers nephews sons or grandsons of former players, it's rarely been a great result for us.PLAYERCARDSTARTNicholas Winmar

He's a better mid than Sloane and Matt - you will see. Matt can get it, Sloane is a warrior, Brad is a gun.
... and there is no need to be fair, there will be no trade. It's about you guys saving your first rounder by paying enough to get Band-1, that is a no-brainer and your list management team know it.
Well I was hoping for jdg but I could live with Treloar I guessHELLO!

Treloar asked Pies whether they wanted him. Their response was to offer to pay for him to leave

Agree. I was in the Adelaide forums all year and watched quite a few of their games because I like to be on the same wavelength as some of my Crows mates when we discuss footy. Matt was chastised for most of the year for not being hard enough, looking for cheap and meaningless stats which often put team mates in horrible positions (regularly handballed to disadvantage or backwards), was slow, kicks weren't penetrating, awful awareness, and the list goes on. Granted he hit back in the last five games of the year but make no mistake, Matt had a limited impact for a majority of the year and Brad is the far better Crouch. Outside of Laird who really came on as a mid this year, Brad is their best mid and we should be rapt to be getting him.Brad is a far superior footballer and extractor compared to his brother
Don’t be fooled by the AA tag
And how did that work out against Tigers and Lynch, or GWS when it meant we had to take Coffield out of his normal role and lost his attack?
We need two big defenders for many teams.
Plus Carlisle is 14kg bigger than Howard and that is important against some opponents.
The whole Treloar contract situation and Collingwood's desperation feels suspicious. With us already having Crouch committed to us, I dont think locking ourselves into Treloar's enormous contract for the next 5 years is necessary.Agree.
So realistically this year we are limited to good mids that other clubs would be ok at losing. That is a small pool. If as rumoured that the Pies have salary cap issues then Treloar might be such a player. But his trade cost would still be hefty, but is probably a lot more doabale with the Pies than Taranto from GWS would be. As much as I would prefer Taranto, I just cannot see us getting GWS to agree, even if we can temp Taranto.

If Brad were able to stay on the park he’d be in the AA conversation. Of that I have no doubt.Problem is that a salary to get Band-1 is way too much $$$ and so cannot happen. Crouch is good, but he is not elite.
