Nor the pick required to get himHe's good, but he doesn't justify what he's being paid.
This should be a word of warning to us bringing in Dawson from Sydney . We need dynamic mids more than that type of playerHe's good, but he doesn't justify what he's being paid.
That was the smartest move they have ever made.Or alternatively, the smart trading was by Port in selling high on blokes like Wingard and Howard to get in elite talent in Rozee/Butters/Duursma (I forget which pick was actually there's to start with)

Matt would be a good fit for them if they lose Cripps. Wonder if they'd cough up more than what we'd get as compo (likely band 3).
cripps wont leave the blues..If the Blues lose Cripps as a free agent they certainly won’t bring in a free agent as it’d dilute/eliminate their compensation.
Could still trade for Crouch if we match a bid or it suits both parties to skip that process.
Was thinking about that (plus Milera back too) and wondering if our thinking is that dynamic, skilful mids are like hen's teeth and super expensive. This should be a word of warning to us bringing in Dawson from Sydney . We need dynamic mids more than that type of player
happy to get him but don’t sell the farm

Are we trying to put together a workmanlike midfield who wins their share but is tasked with distributing it to the wingmen, half backs and outside players?
That was the smartest move they have ever made.
And they did it while we sat on our hands.
probably cost too much to do so..If we go to the draft with pick 4 and don't try to move up to 1, are we sitting on our hands?
Horne is projected to be an absolute gun.
It's like Rozee vs Jones and McHenry.probably cost too much to do so..
Sure... Horne is projected to be an absolute gun but nothing is an absolute certainty.
it would take a deal that would see us lose another high 1st round draft pick as a minimum...
I couldnt be bothered doing it.. but... have a look at the names of some of the recent pick 1’s and some of the recent pick 4’s.. see if you can judge whether expending a shiteload of draft capital is actually worth the risk/reward.
its not at all...It's like Rozee vs Jones and McHenry.
I'm going Rozee.

possibly Roberts.. but he’s just done a pretty serious ankle injury according to reports.. that might see him slide if he cant get back on the field and to his best by seasons end..It's interesting. Some said we sat on our hands and should have tried for Rankine or Lukosius in '18, lesser extent Rozee. We likely will have pick 4, there is another top 3 rated South Aussie this year.
It totally depends what North would want and if they value Horne that highly, what do you think the would want to let it go. Or put it another way, if we had pick 1 and Horne was THE standout mid, how much would another club have to offer up for us to trade that pick. And for the record, whatever North would want it will be way way more than we could afford to offer upIf we go to the draft with pick 4 and don't try to move up to 1, are we sitting on our hands?

Looking at previous drafts, I’m keeping pick 4probably cost too much to do so..

That draft will forever piss me off because we had a better hand than port going into it, then they leapfrogged us with the polec wingard deals. It's interesting. hindsight is a wonderful thing..That draft will forever piss me off because we had a better hand than port going into it, then they leapfrogged us with the polec wingard deals.
If only we got rid of our deadwood too that year. 18 was all about pushing the prem window open but instead we then got rid of 2 1srs for Gibbs to basically ruin a good part of our current rebuild.

2018 was about pushing the premiership window open? We were already in the premiership window and supposedly for another 3-4 years after 2017, what "deadwood" would you have traded given we just played in the Grand Final the previous year and 2018 was supposedly caused by the hamstring injury curse but now we know CM caused a lot more damage to the playing group. That draft will forever piss me off because we had a better hand than port going into it, then they leapfrogged us with the polec wingard deals.

Now? No. We are finally actually trying to do something and have some semblance of a plan.If we go to the draft with pick 4 and don't try to move up to 1, are we sitting on our hands?

Saad is pretty good
Saad is a “poor man’s” Bachar Houli...Saad is pretty good
Hahaha I completely forgot about our Lyons offer for Gibbs. Seems like a horrific judgement from Carlton's staff now (in hindsight, of course)Carlton would have been better off giving the Williams money to Brad Crouch, he is what they needed, or accepting Jarryd Lyons when we offered him in the Gibbs trade.
They've made some terrible list management decisions over the the last 20 years and their development skills are just as bad.
What would you classify as the farm, Jeff? This should be a word of warning to us bringing in Dawson from Sydney . We need dynamic mids more than that type of player
happy to get him but don’t sell the farm
