The 1st point you missed in this post is you can only reference one club of late reaching in the top 5 and that's Melbourne.nah. It’s the same thing. No idea if they were good and how good they were
doedee!
it was a draft bolter, these guys were absolutely worth where they went and more
the reason is because no one knows anything
when all the dumb ass amateur observing community is sleeping on:
Oliver
Doedee
Jackson
Pedlar
and the clubs:
1. Rated them much higher
2. Were right to rate them so high
Was that a coincidence or just more proof that the magic 8 ball guesses a few right, but they’re still just guessing
West AdelaidePickett was the real reach IMO ....to go a small forward at #12 was gutsy, particularly as Pickett had only shown flash's of brilliance, and hardly been consistentYou have to give credit to the Melbourne recruiters
It looks liked they have reached early for a few players like Oliver, Jackson and Pickett but have come up trumps with all those early selections

I've noted Josh Sinn has dropped down the boards a lot this year when he was talked up as being right in the top few at the start of the year.
Given Vic haven't had much footy but he's had 3 decent games at the start of the year, what's been happening here?
3 games I think. Hasn't seemed to do too much damage for Callaghan, Andrew or Hobbs.how much footy have the vic kids played?
West AdelaideActually 8-9 NAB Victorian games3 games I think. Hasn't seemed to do too much damage for Callaghan, Andrew or Hobbs.
Risk/reward I like it.You have to give credit to the Melbourne recruiters

Yep agree, I think he's started drinking his own bathwater of late.In other news, KM has officially lost it.
I like the fact they used early picks on players with big weaponsYou have to give credit to the Melbourne recruiters

Do tell!In other news, KM has officially lost it.
Go read his 2021 draft board, won't take you long to figure it out.Do tell!

This is where I got the 3 NAB league games fromThis is a good read

Compare the Pair: Finn Callaghan / Josh Sinn (Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro)
THE Sandringham Dragons have produced a great number of high-end prospects over the years, whether it be those who are touted from a long way out, or players who bolt into contention with undeniable form in their draft seasons. 2021 is no different, with line-breaking movers Josh Sinn and Finn...afl.draftcentral.com.au
They had 20 years to get it rightI like the fact they used early picks on players with big weapons
that’s what early picks are for , finding match winners

The 1st point you missed in this post is you can only reference one club of late reaching in the top 5 and that's Melbourne.
The 2nd point is they went for a taller option both times.
Which is exactly why I don't think Callaghan gets to us
Funny the other 2 examples are Hamish with our 2nd 1st round picks.
You have to give credit to the Melbourne recruiters

As seen through KM's sunniesJust becausd he has Daicos ahead of JHF? At this point theres nothing wrong with that. Horne has some defiencies and doesnt have the production (although he's at state league level) than other high picks of late (Walsh, Smith, Rowell, Anderson, Daicos). For sure he has the higher ceiling but I can see where hes coming from.
Hindsight is wonderful. If they are busts then do they become reaches?my point is that clearly there was no reach. Just wrong commentators
Hindsight is wonderful. If they are busts then do they become reaches?
Or are you claiming there is no such thing as a reach or slider?
So Grundy didn't slide and most of the commentators got it wrong?
So the commentators and there's been many that projected Bailey Smith to be the best in his draft class and he goes at 7 are wrong?
The commentators that had concerns over McCartin at pick 1 were wrong?
If anything many recruiters get sucked into the flavour of the month, KPF then when there's a few busts in a row they begin to slide.
Same for Ruckman, Small Forwards etc
Carlton have the chance to take Robertson at pick 20 in 2019 and take Philp instead. Nek Minnit everyones trying to trade up to get him.
There's many clubs that ignore the obvious and get it wrong.
You watch a kid and follow him dominating his peers and blind freddy can see he is a gun and thousands inside and outside the industry can make a consensus on their talent and value. Sometimes its not rocket science.no Grundy didn’t slide
what are you comparing to?
you can’t reference one bad source, to justify another source
point is it’s just one guy in the pub asking another guy in the pub. Then when they are both wrong, complaining something must have happened

Jason Horne currently top 3 pick is pretty f**king obvious. .
Now if someone decides to pick Vontae Mack and the rest have their reasons or sh*t their bed and he slides to 7 it doesnt mean the commentators are wrong. The fact many commentators rated Grundy top 3-5 in his draft year but he slid because he's a ruckman, hindsight would say the commentators were right simply because if you revisited the draft now you would have in the top 5.
Most list managers got it wrong.
I grew up playing cricket against boof Lehmann.
As a 14 y.o. you could tell he was something special because he made you chase leather all day unlike anyone else around his age.
The fact the Australian selectors almost choose not to play him didnt make the consensus of people who saw him throughout his junior days wrong. It just showed how outside factors (in his case politics) can override logic at any level.
His deficiencies are that he isn't an elite kick (still above average) and that he's not racking up big numbers at league level as an 18 year old. That's it. Everything else is elite in his game for his age and I would even argue his numbers and influence at league level would be elite at his age.Just becausd he has Daicos ahead of JHF? At this point theres nothing wrong with that.
