Love it.
Crows finally going all in! .. and the time is right.
Just hope we can get it done.

All the nuffies crying because we should've diluted pick 4 down to a scramble of picks.. what now??
Silence.
Danger went at pick 10 and Fyfe even later which goes to show 3 pi ks for pi k 1 is never worth it and at the age of 18 no one knows exactly who is going to be a star. JHF may have peaked early ...one never knows these things

Pick 2, pick 6, pick 9 (X2), pick 10, pick 11, pick 12, pick 16, pick 17 all in our squad today, plus this year's first (4).

Half the team could be first rounders.

Thilthorpe, McAsey, Jones & Pedlar, Hately, Milera, Fogarty, McHenry, Doedee.

We are building a pretty handy team, not including Smith or Brown who are also first round picks, or our very good second round picks (Cook, Schoenberg, Berry).

Props to the club for offering what they did for pick 1 but Im glad It got turned down. As good as JHF looks at this point and considering he is from here, potentially 2 top 5 picks and another first its just too much to pay. We still have too many holes in our next finals challenging list to be using three firsts on one player.

What would Fish/Jones/Ned (all first rounders) get us in a trade if we packaged them up together in this draft ? That's 3 first rounders.

NOTHING.

So we’d use pick 1 instead of 4 this year and go to the PSD for Dawson instead of giving up Dees 1st next year to the Swans (wink wink to NM) so that leaves only our 2022 first as the price for Horne. Binuks doing I think.

Sydney lose him for nothing without our offer.

Betting that North takes him for free in the PSD still means losing him for, erm, nothing

we are their only bridge to a return
Now go over to the main draft and trade board dawson thread and try telling that. The opportunity cost of not only losing dawson but not having the melbourne 1st to use..a double negative

I would think our logic in making the offer goes something like:

Premiership teams almost always feature a Voss Hodge Bartel Martin Bontempelli Petracca powerful skilful midfielder

Difficult to get

If we get one but they are not from SA then there is a better than 50/50 chance they leave as per Danger

When was the last player of that type from SA? When will be the next one?

This assumes Hamish rates JHF accordingly and would be correct in doing so. Given Hamish kept his powder dry in the Luko Rankine Rozee draft, I doubt we would be trying this on a whim.

It is obvious why North don’t make the deal. They need the same player we do. And it would be dumb to give it up for pick 6, something in the 6-10 range, and upgrading an early second to a late first which is how it could easily go.

Brown was a GWS pre-selection, didn't go in the draft.

But he is possibly the best kid we have seen in SA since Pavlich, I can understand the Crows putting that on the table if true.

nonsense on stilts

Pav was overlooked completely as a 17yr old and then was drafted at 4

he was no more hyped than Ryan Fitzgerald and considerably less than Cooney, Gibbs, Lukosius or Rankine

Have players got more expensive?

I think Covid might be doing a good job of trashing this year's and next year's drafts. At least as far as the Victorian draft prospects go.

Last year at least the players had a body of work up until that point.

yes, but how big were Danger & Fyfe when you stood next to them?

FWIW if we’re getting a 2nd back from North in the deal, wouldn’t that basically make it two firsts + a slight downgrade?

Its irrelevant anyway, sounds like North are locked in on Horne
Something I think interesting is - if we did in fact make this offer - it must mean we had some prior indication from North that they would not rule out an offer under any circumstances.

Wouldn't have thought we would go to the trouble of getting Dees' 22'r1 pick to then lob it at North without any idea how they'll take it.

Will be interesting if we up the offer (if this wasn't completely bogus in the first place).

How costly are those junk wins against North Melbourne and Hawthorn now

We lost the race to North well before that - and those junk wins likely wouldn't make a difference to us being able to trade for pick 1 from North. We'd likely be under investigation from the FL for tanking had we go bottom again.

I think our non-playing personnel tried as hard as we could get away with to impede our season but players in a good club (like I hope ours are) will always try to do as well as they can.

Everyone needs this type of player but there isnt enough of them for everyone.

Although not from SA, Hollands has connections here and was a Crows supporter. I'm not sure where else we can find a talent who can furfil this role in the near future, but I'd be paying overs to get Hollands out of GC.

Personally I think getting pick 4 up to pick 3 could be the sticking point for North turning down the trade.
If the two clubs are discussing the prospect of a trade there's obviously interest from both parties.
How we get from pick 4 to 3 I don't know.

That's not how this works at all...

That logic is so faulty you are either being intentionally misleading or I have serious concerns for your reasoning skills.

Do GC have any interest in any of our players?
