Don’t really get the Tambling hateWhoever we draft will be entering a far more professional organisation than blokes like poor Richard Tambling.
The other thing about Goater as Mr.M mentioned is that he can play multiple roles. For argument sake Ross, RCD and Dow all come on as centre mids this year, so the need for an industrious mid like Ward or Hobbs become less important. Goater looks like a wingman, which we don't really have coming along. Tall, fast and classy players hard to find.Hard for me to comment on this years crop with any confidence as I have pretty much seen none of them play but based on comments I would be happy to take a punt on Goater with our first pick. In fact if we can’t get up the order and take Callaghan I would still take goater even if Ward/Hobbs were still available. Long term I think we need to be looking to find our next generational talent and goater/Callaghan seem to have upside in spades where as the ward/Hobbs types are being compared to your Tom Mitchell’s of the world. Yeah Tom Mitchell is a good player and Brownlow medallist but can you build a team around these types that win flags. Just an opinion, not everyone will agree

Just saw this trade suggestion on the Freo board and thought it had merit for us and GWS. Thoughts?I wonder if there isn't a shuffle of picks that benefits three teams being us, GWS and Richmond where teams end up with the following picks:
Richmond 2,19 (7,15,26 out)
GWS 6,7 (2,13 out)
Fremantle 8,13,15,26 (6,19 out and keep 8)
Richmond get a crack at the gun mid they want at 2(4) and that important pick 19
GWS don't overpay for Andrew and get back to back top 10 picks
Freo get a crack at one or both of the two key positions with 13 and 15 (Amiss, JVR) before Brisbane picks, a Cerra replacement and choice of WA mid at 8 before WCE pick and a chance of getting Motlop or a slider with 26.
Normal years Freo wouldn't do that trade but all reports are that 5-20 are pretty even so 6,19 to 13,15,26 might get us a better crack at what we need.
Maybe Richmond throw in a future pick to even things out.
I was a big Tambling supporter, my point is that he would have played a hell of a lot longer if he came in today’s systemDon’t really get the Tambling hate
He wasn’t a bad pick
Was clearly rated one of the best picks at the time of drafting and was the right move at the time
Bloke still played over 100 games for us
i would certainly do thatJust saw this trade suggestion on the Freo board and thought it had merit for us and GWS. Thoughts?

Yeah there'd be local guys around the mark at all of those picks for Freo, if that's the way they wanted to go.I was going to say suits Freo and who they would be targeting
My son has been watching a lot of old games on YouTube and he loves Tambling. He actually played some seriously good footy off half back one year but he was just shot for confidence, 1 bad game would set him back again.Don’t really get the Tambling hate

who do we pick up at 2 ?Just saw this trade suggestion on the Freo board and thought it had merit for us and GWS. Thoughts?
Callaghan I'd say.who do we pick up at 2 ?
If I remember correctly, it was when Wallis got sacked and Rawlings came in and moved him to half back. He looked like a completely different player and was very exciting to watch in those few weeks. Pity he couldn't keep that goingMy son has been watching a lot of old games on YouTube and he loves Tambling. I think it suits GWS really well too. They could pick up two of Andrew/Gibcus/Rachele with those picks - three players that would fit their list nicely.
I reckon we'd take Callaghan at 2 (4 after bids) and maybe someone more inside like Knevitt at 19 (if we didn't on-trade it).

I agree. Its brilliant.Richmond 2,19 (7,15,26 out)
GWS 6,7 (2,13 out)
Fremantle 8,13,15,26 (6,19 out and keep 8)
Could someone please send this to all three clubs involved. The Fremantle person who came up with this gave it some really good thought.

Now show him old footage of Buddy at hawks around the sameMy son has been watching a lot of old games on YouTube and he loves Tambling. He actually played some seriously good footy off half back one year but he was just shot for confidence, 1 bad game would set him back again.
I reckon your right, I remember watching him play a game at docklands against the eagles in which I think was Rawlings first game as coach and he was close to BOG but was still copping it from our fans. Real shame for Richie as from all reports was a ripping bloke. If I remember correctly, it was when Wallis got sacked and Rawlings came in and moved him to half back. Haha He couldn’t care less about other clubs mate, tigers obsessed just how I raised him. He also only watches the games we win so not many from that eraNow show him old footage of Buddy at hawks around the same

We would not have 7 and 15. We’d have 2 and 19 if this went through. It would mean GWS with picks 6 & 7 would not choose WA kids.I think for starters pick 26 can be replaced by pick 28
Something interesting.
Its a question of Callaghan I suppose v pick 7 and pick 15 v pick 19 for us. We are losing a pick in the twenties as well if we think thats okay
Part of this is about us not picking WA players at 7 and 15 to suit Freo no doubt
