The traders in the podcast yesterday were saying he’s as good as no chance to play round 1. They basically ruled him out altogether. Not sure where their info came from but it’s consistent with his injury history; there is every chance we won’t see him on an AFL field for a very long time

As a Coach, you couldn't risk selecting Cockatoo .....likely to breakdown halfway thru a game and hurt your round

Yup. Can't believe I had him pencilled in early. Schoolboy error

And he was never priced right in AF anyway.

GWS star Lachie Whitfield is all but certain to miss Round 1 despite making steady improvement from a bruised liver.

Whitfield will again meet with specialists later this week to plot the next step, but he is understood to still be a fair way off resuming any sort of contact training, let alone a match situation.

The All-Australian and dual best and fairest is said to be steadily recovering from the unique injury - suffered from backing back in a pack a month ago – but hasn’t been able to train with any meaningful consistency.

Whitfield started running again only last week.

Jake Lloyd
Jake unfortunately sprained the back of his knee when kicking a ball off the wet surface against GWS. He is going to miss this weekend as we are taking a conservative approach. He will look to return to full training next week.

Bloody hell - cross off Hunter, Meek, Frederick, Mills and Hill just from this last few days' news. Will any halfway interesting PODs be left prior to Round 1 next Thurs?
