We are performing roughly according to his we should be IMO.
Did anyone really expect us to jump to top 4? Not many if any.
Top 8 yes.

Atm we are 1 game outside the 8 in a very even competition.
Our losses, which haven't been floggings, have been at the hands of the most consistent teams of the past few years- port the 2020 minor premiers, Richmond the reigning premiers, and the 3 form sides atm - dogs, dees,Lions.
So Collingwood are the only outlier defeat.

We have some key players out and a very young ruck division.

We have AA'S on every line
Wals, Cripps, weitering, Harry.

I would say that we are doing the expected.
Today's match against swans us a big test.

Win the collingwood game and changes everything

Carlton needs to get passed Liam Jones. Gifts 2 goals per week and is a 30 year old diabolical decision maker, playing in a position requiring a clear mind and cool head. The solution is to groom kemp as a centre half back and move Weitering to full back
We did get "passed" Liam Jones. From the Bulldogs forward line.

What’s this media talk of Tom Mitchell to us??
Merrett is way better and won’t cost us picks
We will easily be able to afford him with Murphy, Betts , Casboult and Ed retiring

(I know Ed is still getting a kick but he is holding up development of our young uns)
Thoughts?
How is he holding up development? If these kids want to play, be better. Learn from a veteran and supercede his capacity. Jeez, he doesn't have to hand over his job, earn it youngster's.

Pat Kerr, couldve been a handy third tall at a percentage of the price as Mcgovern.
I saw the game where he kicked one on the boundary line, I think he got a couple of snags in that game. Couldnt understand him getting shuffled out the door so quickly.
Even Watson, at least he could stay on the park. Perhaps lower ceilings than Mcgovern but he is just never right to go.
Kerr Schumacher and Ben Silvagni are 3 who I thought deserved 12 more months that we have cut in the last 24 months.

Some ex-listed players I noted in the player pool for Wednesday night:
Jordan Galluci
Jesse Glass-McCasker
Dan Gorringe
Billy Gowers
Pat Kerr
Kym LeBois
Harrison Macreadie
Fraser Phillips
Cam Polson
Ben Silvagni

I think there is some restrictions for an AFL club if you de-listed a player in previous off season. I think some of them you barred from re-drafting straight up.

Others that had some association either via training or VFL team are Ben Crocker, Cody Hirst, Alex Mirkov and possible the Samuel Fisher I saw listed, also played in our Northern Blues team 2 or 3 years ago. Not sure if it the same Fisher I thinking of.
There bound to be others like some on our VFL reserves team this year like Wooler and North.
And Jarrod Garlett and Alex Johnson. That Galluci wasn't with us, he was with Adelaide. Andrew played for us.
Add the Manton boys and Charlie McKay

Good pick up it is a different Galluci.
One name that comes to mind that I wonder what he doing now is Pickett.
Anyone know what football he been in since he moved back to WA ?

I read somewhere WC told him to nominate. He is listed as playing for Railways (what ever that means).
i did not see his name when i looked the other day

mm the issue is out 2016 and 2017 draft class aren't coming on.

2015 - Weiters (Tick), Harry Mckay (Tick), Silvangi (Tick), Cunningham (Was a tick before injuries) & Charlie Curnow (Tick before injuries) = Successful.
2016 - SPS (Jury still out), Setterfield (Getting better), Fisher (Jury still out) = Okay.
2017 - Dow (Not looking great), O Brien (Not looking great), TDK (Getting better) = Looking like a bad miss.
2018 - Walsh (Super Tick), Stocker (Getting Better) = Very good cause of Walsh.

So we were able to extremely good pointy ends, our early midfield picks are getting slaughtered.

Maybe we just need 1 more year of development, but its not looking great.

It's impossible that we got the SPS, Setters, Kennedy, Dow and LOB selections either through trade or draft all wrong. It comes down to our development, which must be shocking.

It’s not impossible. If we consider say Walsh, McKay, Weitering, Curnow and Stoker successes then it’s probably about a 50% strike rate in the first round while SOS was at Carlton. If you look at his time at GWS it’s probably pretty similar.

It’s a combination of Boo-Boos, recruiting & development, they are the main culprits both areas have to be overhauled further, otherwise we’re going nowhere.
List clean out end season, we can’t carry players whom for 4 to 5 years show very little positive results. We need a balance of mature & experience players & fresh youngsters, committed to team orientation, good character , skill and athleticism. we need get back to the fundamentals.

Callum Coleman-Jones just got harder to pry out of Richmond, 4 goals yesterday in his 2nd career AFL game.

Seems like he will go the way of Peter Ladhams last year and establish himself just as other clubs thought he was gettable.

That injury to Lynch came at a shitty time, eh.

Lynch who ? ;)

We always held hope Cj would stay and the club rates him highly and will have a contract tabled
Still not confident he stays though.

I could see him fitting in perfectly at Carlton with TDK & Harry
ideal Casboult replacement
