If there were two blokes you would have a question marks against in terms of culture it would be these two. However Voss would know them better than any of us. My suspicion is that he would not touch them with a barge pole (particularly Ladhams) but time will tell.

Ve seen this written a few times in relation to Ladhams, am I missing something? Ive never seen anything negative said or written about him in the past, where has this poor culture/attitude talk come from?

Having Bontempelli, Libba, Dunkley, Smith, Macrae plus Hunter on the wing didn’t stop the Bulldogs going after Treloar and that seems to have worked out well for them. You can never have too many good mids.

As much as I believe setting up closer to the ball and not spreading as wide will see our on ballers thrive next year I’m stoked about Cerra, hope he can be the guy that helps our midfield compete with the best in the league.

Been rumoured a bit and port seem to be keen to offload him.

Just my judgement but seems to play in an non intelligent way.

Exactly. The secret to their midfield is the amount of versatility - most of their players can play in more than one position, and can rotate between on-ball and wing/flank.

Earlier on in the year we were playing pretty much just Cripps, Walsh and Ed at every stoppage. The sooner you start rotating Dow, Kennedy, Cuningham, Stocker, Fisher, Williams and now Cerra and Hewett through there, the sooner we can start to compete with the better midfields.

dogs mid group didn’t work as well in the second half though…

It’s still Libba, Bont and Macrae each attending upwards of 2/3 of all centre bounces. Libba close to 80%. So while they’ve got a deep midfield and play lots of mids on field, it’s still the 3 main guys plus some cameos, which is similar to most teams.

Round 1 opinion (plus rumoured)

Stocker - Jones - Kemp
Saad - Wieters - Williams

Walsh - Cripps - LOB
Pitto - Cerra - Hewitt

Honey - Charlie - Fisher
Gov - Harry - Martin

Dow - JSOS - TDK - Newman
Sub- Ed Curnow

2s

Parks - …… - Boyd
Marchy - …… - Willo

Philip - Kennedy - Cottrell
Mirkov - Cunners- Setters

Fog - …… - Gibbo
Owies - OMac - Durdin

Ramsey - Carrol - Doc (if available) - Newnes

Absolutely screaming out for key backs and a key forward….Brander would be a great pick up

Doc recovering from treatment I reckon will be out for a few weeks at start of season

Rumour is he's quite acquainted with the old crystal pistol. I have no knowledge of that being fact but those are the rumours that surround him. Something about him and a former port player that are very close who gets up to no good. You'd have to ask the port board, I've only heard murmurs

The 5 players I’m very keen to see what Voss can do with.

1. Cripps: in 2019 he was the best player in the game and on his way to becoming an immortal. Things have gone downhill since for a variety of reasons. Let’s see if Voss can get him back on track like he did Wines. There are a lot of similarities between Voss and Cripps and leadership wise I hope he can mould Cripps into being Captain Carlton!

2. Setterfield: this might come as a surprise having him so far up the list but I think he had a heap of potential which he was starting to show the end of 2020. Under a new coach who was one of the great midfielders of this generation, hopefully he can re-engage Setters.

3. Dow: much maligned for most of his career, he started to show form toward the end of the year. Hopefully Voss can continue this upward trajectory.

4. Stocker: As most suspect I think Stocker and Voss will get on like a house on fire. Wouldn’t be suprised if Voss gets him into the midfield straight away to play his ā€˜powerful’ game plan.

5. Fisher: I wonder if Voss has plans for Fish to be our version of a Zac Butters. That creative half forward who can set up the play in front of him. Fish was very good a few years ago, let’s see if Voss can unlock him as a player

I haven’t included Walsh because Walsh speaks for himself

Agree with all except fish , swap 5 with Fogarty

Brander was a teammate of Dow and O’Brien at Bendigo and i assume, Vic Country.
All 3 taken in the 2017 draft along with Cerra and TDK.
Certainly would be harvesting that draft with picks 3,5,10,13,30 coming through together.
Similar to our 2015 haul of Silvagni Kennedy McKay Weitering Cuningham Curnow with picks 1,10,12,13,23,FS
