You would have a much higher chance of a much better KPP being available around our 2nd pick #25 that you would with #64 you would think B&S…
At 25 you might get Jacob van Rooyen, Rhett Bazzo, Jack Williams, Leek Alleer or Toby Conway (Ruckman). Quite a few talls around that range.

And, he should very carefully consider any offer to socialise with those three any time soon.
LOB to DOA a real possibility.

Foo Fighters
song DOA

‘ oh you no i did it
it’s over i feel fine
nothing you can say is gunna change my mind
waited and waited the longest night
nothing like the tastes of sweet decline ‘

‘ I went down, I fell, I fell so fast
dropping like the grains in an hourglass
never say forever, cause nothing lasts
dancing on the bones of my buried past’

‘ it’s a shame we have to die, my dear
no ones getting out of here alive
this time
what a way to go, but have no fear
no ones getting out of here alive
this time ‘

You can interpret things in many ways…
These lyrics are about a breakup
There’s a pain and hurt that comes with that, there’s the realisation that some things are unfortunately inevitable and someone needs to be strong and make the first move, in reflection both parties could have done things better along the way…

Dow’s a beauty.
Another who’s progress was stunted by the disastrous recently deposed regime
I’ve got fingers crossed, for a few of our younsters entering season 5 .
The 2022 preseason will be exciting and interesting, none of our flimsy framed, light weights can hide. Hopefully conditional footy won’t be tolerated as the seasons evolves. Intensity and application, will be the way one hopes.
Reckon there’ll be a list clean out come end season 2022.

All depends on the clubs before us rating of these lads overall talent, over long term list needs with the KKP types need stocking up…

Hopefully there are a few good KPP that are still there that are rated highly by Austin and the recruiting team…

We’re still a few good developing types short…

bit cruel using fev as a comparison - I still get the gasps watching the accuracy of his long shots for goal - no better example than this happy little game - watch this and don't get goosebumps..........

also at 1.04 the single worst example of the newly introduced hands in the back rule I ever saw........

I remember Hoops was brilliant that day. Underrated footballer for our club. We could use his foot skills going inside 50 about now.

Love posters putting up these names. :thumbsu:

Thought Austin said the draft was light on key defenders?

Need a key forward to develop if anything

kpf an option too, but given we have mckay/charlie/tdk/mcgov/jsos there are at least multiple serviceable options

kpd is weitering and nothing. jones is good but old. young not reasy

Young's ready enough. More ready than whichever draftee gets pulled in.

Also Marchbank and Parks and even Plowman can cover a back

How was his progress stunted?

Sam Walsh just came 4th in the Brownlow at age 21. That's the same system Dow is in.

It's pretty clear his progress was stunted when he was moved out of the midfield rotation completely, and was instead asked to play a position he was completely unfamiliar with.

Walsh is irrelevant to the discussion.

Always excuses and blaming the club.

Never on the player and their limitations.

Could it be that when you draft players from the bottom of the ladder side their ability is overrated because they are standing out in a poor team?

Didn't say anything of the sort.

Is that why you strangely brought Walsh into the discussion?

No, I brought Walsh in because he's in the same environment as Dow and has succeeded.

As has McKay, Weiters, Stocker, TDK, JSOS.

If our club was so bad at holding young players back we'd not have any decent young players, which we do.

Dow has had to play HF - was only til the back end of 2021 that he was playing full games as a midfielder. Just needs to find a way to be more consistent across 4 quarters but it will come with experience. Controversial I know but Dow's best quarters in the midfield were crazy good this year - I'd even go as far as saying as good as Walsh's

His first quarter against Fremantle was unbelievable. Only overshadowed by Walsh’s final quarter that day.

It’s harder to play that contested burst style over four quarters but I can’t wait until he figures it out.

Dow is suffering from poor recruiting and midfield mix. He is a front runner that doesn't like running back thats ok - but so is Cripps.

So the midfield mix has really set him back more than anything. Most top end midfields have the right mix.

Forward runner/attacking mid
Defensive runner/sweeper
Two way runner.

The persistence to play both Cripps and Dow in the middle same time hurt both - and the team - as neither are capable defensive runners.
