I think Lyon will be good for them. There is a plenty of talent on the list, he’ll organise them and get them playing coherently

Some people point out Lyon’s last 4 years at Freo as evidence against him, but have you seen Clarkson’s last 4 years?

if that’s the measure you want to use then an argument can be made that Clarkson is past it too

and you know what? He might be
My question on Clarkson isn't his competence, it's his heart. I just get the feeling he's not going to be invested in a club the way he was with the Hawks where he helped build them from the gutter into a dynasty. I reckon it'd be hard to replicate that passion on a new team where you're starting from scratch and it's such a perfect storm of events to get the results he did I'm not sure if it could even be replicated even if he was 100% invested and coaching his ass off.

Maybe the time off will help, but people will expect him to be a miracle worker and I can't see it happening as quick as some will expect.

Teague wasn’t a good appointment. It was made in knee jerk haste

his problem was that he never made the transition from caretaker to head coach.

he never developed a game plan of his own, not a clear vision of how he wanted to play

as interim all he needed to do was simplify, go back to basics and get the players to play a bit more free.

when he was made permanent he couldn’t go beyond that, he didn’t adapt and implement a proper game plan that players and staff could understand or execute

and that’s without taking into account whether the game plan would be any good

the problem with Carlton & Teague wasn’t in his firing, but his hiring in the first place

no process, knee jerk, wrong guy
Agree ....CARL made the mistake of thinking a good line Coach could automatically be a good Head Coach

Teague comes across as a Coach that isn't demanding as much as cajoling players .....hence why he's so well liked by players
Did he have any say in his assistants ? .....or did he accept what he was given, that'll be the death knoll of a Coach most times

He obviously needed a strong defensive line Coach

Supposedly he was given the option to pick his own assistants and decided to stick with what the Blues already had in place.

Nice guy at work again.

Stark contrast to Melbourne who have 2 ex AFL head coaches around Goodwin along with a future head coach in Yze

Agree, probably too nice .....gotta be a bit ruthless & demanding

Hopefully he picks up a line Coach role .....he should, and on reflection he'll know that next time he needs to approach the job differently, and surround himself with his own team

He does remind me a bit of Sanderson. Once Sando didn't have Dean Bailey to cover up his faults it felt like he was an assistant who was over his head and didn't know how to transition from being an assistant to a senior coach.

It's like when you compare our coaching setup in 2019 for Pyke to now with Nicks. Night and day on the experience front and that was only changing up Burns and Rahilly for Mattner/Reilly and Hart.

There was a report that Richmond were interested in him, which seems perfect. Richmond are the new Hawthorn for coaching rehab.

Perfect job for Teague .....it'll add to his existing footy knowledge, and maybe give him a more balanced approach to footy coaching

It’s the same thing. But if anything it’s the heart that makes someone past it, not the knowledge or competence

he knows waayyyy more know than before, but the energy wains
IIRC the other day it was quoted that Coach's that had won 2,3, and 4 Premierships, all failed to win another at a 2nd club

Tom Haffey went the closest with COLL

Might explain why he wants compensation.

Must have been traumatic for him as a baby remembering that. :drunk:
So traumatic he recreated the shot a few years ago and up till now has been living off the fame

Interesting to think whether Clarkson will have the fire in the belly for another club and another flag

He’s always been an angry ant but has that been satisfied somewhat and will a year off dull it further?

Would he want to
- take on the impossible task of lifting the Suns
- take over an underperforming team with plenty of talent and premiership potential like GWS
- become a director of football (can’t see that one)
- go into the media
- take an AFL role (doesn’t seem the type) ?

Won’t be wondering where his next dollar is coming from that’s for sure

The poor poort's having a cry about the 15,000 capacity for the final.. back a few years ago covid restrictions wouldn't have even impacted on them when they had tarps and 13,000.. :$

Get off the bandwagon then.
It’s now 20000

He targeted and over paid (and for) Mitch McGovern

Sums him up I reckon

Who was it that passed the ball to themselves around the post the other night?

Had forgotten where I'd seen it before but stumbled on the video today. Jack Higgins' goal of the year a few years ago

Considered a ball drop for a kick.

Not a throw from one hand to the other.
