My wife (who is a Port supporter) asked me the other day, "Surely you would be happier with a Port premiership than Dangerfield winning one".

Considering we have been together for 20+ years I would have thought that she would know me better than that !!!!

I'd take Danger and/or Lever winning 5 consecutive flags before I could stomach Port winning one.

I only casually read your posts and I know better than that :tearsofjoy:

Geelong are stacked with mature, finals-hardened bodies. They have the superior coach (low bar that that might be). Any lack of leg speed in their older players will be more than offset by experience, quick and accurate ball movement and hard physical pressure. Hawkins will kick 6. Parfitt will have 30 possies and 2 goals.

<Whoever Geelong's #1 KPD is> will give Dixon a towelling up. Dixon will give away 4x 50 metre penalties snipe aforementioned KPD and be suspended for the SF.

Scott will play Dangerfield forward and Hinkley will have no answer.

It'll be over at half time.

:rainbow::rainbow::rainbow: :$

It was over at halftime last week.

So Port Adelaide are the 8th team in the top 8 era to finish top 4 with a 0% win% vs top 4 teams

Teams before them

1994 North Melbourne - Lost Preliminary Final
1996 North Melbourne - Premiers (Grand Final at home vs a higher placed side)
1997 St Kilda - Lost Grand Final
1999 Brisbane - Lost Preliminary Final
2008 Hawthorn - Premiers (Grand Final at home vs a higher placed side)
2010 Western Bulldogs - Lost Preliminary Final
2018 Collingwood - Lost Grand Final
2021 Port Adelaide - TBD

History shows me that Port Adelaide has a 57% chance to fluke their way to a grand final.
However, without the advantage of playing said Grand Final at home, they wont be able to win it.
Love these stats

Looking at the trends in the Rising Star and 17 of the 23 Nominees are from Top 8 clubs, interestingly (perhaps unsurprisingly) 17 of the 23 nominations were earned against teams that missed the finals.

The Crows coughed up 5 Nominations followed by Richmond with 4. The Roos, Saints, Bulldogs, Swans and Hawks 2 each and singles against The Lions, Carlton, West Coast and Geelong.

The Rising Star was once dominated by developing teams now it seems to have gone the way of every other award/reward system in the AFL bias towards favouring the teams at the top of the table.
Good pickup. Much easier to dominate and rack up stats when your team is well on top

I'm thinking we may need a seperate thread for Port's final series, so this one doesn't get clogged up..... Should I make one??

it's up to you, maybe create a generic 2021 finals gameday thread rather than a Port specific one

The laughs belong in here in this thread, its been tradition since 1870 before the internet.

I see one of these campaigners has been described as Gray: that's dangerously close to a 6-week suspension. ;)
