The problem is SA health have no frame work for events, it’s submit a plan and we’ll say yes or no, it’s not submit a plan like this and work it in with your event.
So events put in what they think is needed (stupid things like the masks or cashless events) and they get ticked off.
We hear weekly from event organizers how hard it is to do Covid management plans.
It’s a bit like saying “come and paint my house” so you come and paint it blue and I say “I don’t like blue”, so you repaint it red and I say “nope don’t like red” so you paint it white.
And so on it goes.
If I just told you what color I wanted it in the first time it would save us both a lot of time.

Sounds by the c (concert at Glenelg) went back and forwards over 20 times for their management plan.
Sounds by the river had to split their 5000 people outdoor concert in halves, so they had to be 2 lots of toilets, 2 lots of food (only get access to half the amount of trade as normal)
The next night, basically the same concert put on by the same people in seppeltsfield, didn’t need any of that bullshit for the same amount of people.
Mount pleasant show only had their plan approved the day before the show.
Which if not approved, it would have meant a limit of 1000 people, instead of 5000 (normally 20000+ people go over the day) this is an outdoor event spread over a huge area, yet 40k at the footy is ok.
The difference from 20000 to 5000 to 1000 people, is a massive amount of $ for a country show to miss out on especially after not having it last year.
It’s a shambles.
