Kane would have come off better if he'd been in on it. He was made to look foolish and almost cried
I haven't seen it. Refuse to watch that trash.

But you could be right. Probably not smart enough to stay on script.

Kano's character in the media is the heel though. Crocmedia have positioned him as that.

Before he was with them, on AA just after his retirement, he was pretty decent. Yes a bit of a selfish brat. But he was not so tabloid. Gave some good insights as a recent player.

Some amount of tradition is fine when it comes to guernseys, but personally I don't give a shit.

Every team should have three guernseys they're happy to wear (colour, white and an ALTERNATE) that do not clash with each other, and the focus for every game should be on TEAMS NOT CLASHING. It really shouldn't be that hard.

I also don't care if teams wear traditional or one-off guernseys occasionally.

Port wear their dumb prison bars guernsey? Don't care.
Crows wear the traditional state of origin guernsey? Don't care.

Please just make it so that I can watch a game and easily differentiate between the players.

I err on the side of not caring, the only dog I have in the fight is that if it pisses off the Pear nangas it's worth it.

I actually quite like it, it's a cool jumper. Don't care if they wear it against us or someone else, would be great to beat them in it once we're good again. But them being pissy is always the best outcome. The fact that they're so petulant about it is what makes it so amusing when they don't get it.

The link here doesn't work but I recall Francou and James saying they felt no affinity to the prison bar guernsey and saw the Magpies and Power as different entities

I wonder how the 2004 premiership players feel about the club's constant attempts to move away from the guernsey they wore? Maybe they don't care

Found the article:

"It's time to move on," Francou said after the Power unveiled the 1977 Magpies premiership jumper it will wear against the Western Bulldogs at Telstra Dome on Saturday. "I can understand Port wanting to recognise its history but there is still a stigma attached with the Port Magpies in that if you don't like them you absolutely hate them.

"And I think Port - while still being respectful of its heritage - has to move away from that."

"It's time for the Power to start forging its own history," Francou, who was aligned to SANFL club North Adelaide, said. "If it wants to wear a different guernsey go back to one the Power used, a pre-season jumper, in its early days."

James, an inaugural Power squad member from Norwood who played 147 games for the club from 1997-2005 and was a member of its first AFL premiership side in 2004, says he always has viewed the Power as a new club.

"I understand Port's background but as far as I'm concerned the Power was started from scratch, has only been in the (AFL) competition for 11 years and was made up of players from every SANFL club," he said. "To me, it's heritage goes back to 1997 and that's why I question the decision to wear a Magpies jumper."

The Port jumper again shows up Kochie's level of incompetence

No point blaming McGuire, Port should not have not positioned themselves purely on wearing the jumper for heritage round. The footy fixture and its promotional rounds are always subject to change to achieve the best commercial outcome.

Port should have either liked their need directly to a home showdown which will always be fixed or a minimum amount of games whether that be 1, 2 or 3 games as long as the games were not against Collingwood, or Melbourne

Kochie can blame McGuire for being hoodwinked when he showed no foresight whatsoever

There's more than a bit of theatre about this guernsey crap

Kochie gets to grandstand and in the eye of his most brain-dead members is standing up valiantly for the club history.

Eddie gets to do the same in response as he tries to claw back his shattered image.

Port's bid placates a few of the rusted on Alberton barnacles who never fully embraced the AFL move.

Port's bid inevitably fails so it becomes an us against the world thing. Everyone's out to get us but they'll never tear us apart

Collingwood get to demonstrate a show of strength. Don't look at the ladder, we're still top dogs - calling the shots.

Port keep the guernsey in the news as a reminder for people to buy. Oh and Eddie... can you remind everyone that we aren't technically allowed to sell them, that will motivate people to buy while they still can.

Only a few dingbats like Kane don't realise that they're puppets in a play

Great observations. Everyone kind of gets what they want even though they don't get what they really want. The only thing Port loves more than their babygates guernsey is being the downtrodden, us against the world sob story.

They've based their whole pregame singalong around everyone else. THEY can never tear us apart. Even when it's about Port it's still about everyone else.

So hang on.

On the show Eddie McGuire's production company produces, Jam TV, and the CEO is a Port Board member, Kane Cornes is "railroaded" about this debate?

Then talk of going to the Supreme Court.

This script comes straight from WWE.

Player jumpers are already made, no doubt sitting at Alberton. Along with the many for sale.

11th hour, Port will win. The "David" to Eddie/Collingwood "Goliath". Eddie is playing his part, helping his CEO Cos Cardone out.

Plus it makes good TV seeing Kano grilled, who no doubt s in on it. He is the heel.

It is all being set up. They will wear the jumper against us.

Footy media is trash.

Eddie and Collingwood are too far gone to lose now. If they do lose, it will be humiliation. No way Eddie is in on some theatre that results in Port getting a victory over Collingwood.

Im calling bullshit here.

Not what you are saying but what they think, I just do not believe there is many at all Port supporters from SANFL that continue to support the Crows?

In fact I have never come across here literally a single poster that is a Port SANFL supporter and Crows supporter.

Anyone? Bueller?

My dad did just that.

He spent the early part of 1997 "supporting both teams" (from memory there was a Footy Park membership that got him tickets to both Crows and Power home games). At the end of the 2nd showdown I asked him whether he was happy or disappointed that Troy Bond kicked the late goal to seal the match. He answered that he was happy, and for the rest of his life he was a Crows supporter who's SANFL team was Port.

In that case I must try and have a look at it. I would love to see that! In fact we need a gif of that ..... flashcrow??? :D
Too many moments where he could have burst into tears, but none long enough to make a decent gif. I found this video of the segment though. First time in my life I have liked Eddie.

In hindsight when Port entered the competition, they should have only been allowed to be called Port Power and nothing else.

I swear this is what I thought was meant to him.

I think Port Adelaide Power creeped in some how.
Port, mainly thanks to their historian and some time media person Rucci, have been very good at re-writing history when no-one was looking and then claiming it had always been that way. Given most of their supporters barely have the IQ to remember last week, let alone 20 years ago, they are confident whatever BS they spew out will be lapped up without question.

It’s pretty clear what they’re trying to do. New logo, directives to media drop all references to ‘Power’ etc. At the start I was pretty apathetic to if they wore it or not but the continual nagging, whining sob story and constant changing story (ie 150th year only to home showdown to both showdowns) has driven me so far against it.

Also don’t understand where this “heritage game” comes from. I don’t think any Crows (or even Power) fans see this game as celebrating the history of SA football? Flogs

I see the Prison Bar jumper as disrespectful to SA footy as the Port Magpies tried to unsuccessfully destroy football in this state.

Am I right in thinking that West Coast once wore the WA state jumper in an AFL game? Did Freo spew at the mouth like our little (povo) brothers from down on the wharfs?
Yeah I think we did in like 2007? Got flogged at home by lower ranked Brissy too. Stupid WA guernsey.

Kane is such a dumb f**k, he basically provided evidence on Footy Classified to prove he was wrong on national TV.

Thats like a criminal providing video evidence of his crime in court of his own accord.
It's so so satisfying to see him dig his own grave on national TV!

I still think this is all contrived, and Port should be allowed to wear the jumper.

Just watched that.

But the heritage argument against us does not stack up.

Magpies v Crows is not heritage. Port Magpie never played us in the AFL.

Eddie is correct. If they see the Showdown as "Heritage ", they should wear the jumper they first beat us in 1997. Not shoehorn an argument around heritage and the Showdown.

Also any reference to that 2007 should be torn up with Port selling PB merchandise. Port broke the deal.

Its like a poster abusing another poster on here, but deleting it before the mods can see it, but they take a screenshot and then send it to the mods later. :drunk:

I abuse our mods on here all the time, they just dont see it.
