So how come Eddie and Collingwood cop crap for defending their VFL history even though this port guernsey was SANFL ?
It’s just too bad.... they made their bed now they have to lay in it
The carry on by Koch is what’s embarrassing- not Eddie
No. Other clubs throughout the world play with similar or the same colours ( look at the EPA ffs) . It’s not the same jumper, it’s a one off and Collingwood are not present. Other codes around the world would laugh at this. Eddie is and will continue to be embarrassing IMO and this is just another example that the AFL is run by Victoria. The Gold Coast suns colours are almost the same as ours but with a different shade of blue. Do we care??

Yes they would. Yes they have, only recently. Dont view this if youre drunk. :drunk:

The recent ODI series, not sure if its South Africa v Pakistan, or South Africa v South Africa or Pakistan vs Pakistan.

Just on the point of the prison bars, correct me if I'm wrong, but I am pretty sure I remember Eddie saying last year that Port asked them for permission to wear it for the 150 year celebration and Eddie offered them the chance to delay it by 12 months because of COVID, but Port were firm that they wanted to wear it in 2020 despite there being no fans at the game.

Yet now they're trying to argue that part of the reason why they should be able to wear it this year was because when they wore in 2020 there was no crowd.

As others have pointed out they're the kings of revising/altering history on the fly to suit their argument.

Why do so many people struggle with this part. Same colours. Fine. Same design elements. Fine. Same colours AND design elements, not fine.

If GC changed their guernsey to include navy and arranged them in hoops, then we'd have a problem. At the moment, Port's guernsey is closer to Collingwood's than GC's is to ours and guess what, it's fine.

You ever see those studies where they give a kid a chocolate and say "You can eat this now and that's all you get, or, if you can wait 10 minutes I'll give you two chocolates"? Port is the kid that eats it straight away then cries because it's not fair they don't get the second one.

Whilst you are correct about Port pushing/crying to get more.

Why do the AFL allow Eddie to dictate what another club gets to wear in a game Collingwood are not involved in?

Few people seem to have an issue with this? A far bigger issue than Port's carry on.

What other deals does Eddie have with the AFL and his production company Jam TV?

Classic case of wanting their cake and eating it too.
If they want to honour “heritage” in showdowns, wear the guernsey they won the first showdown in.

As for the “prison bars” guernsey, their members and supporters can see it every week in the SANFL, nothing stopping them from doing that.

They joined the AFL as Port Power with certain T’s & C’s, deal with it.

Ahem

It’s not the EPL
And I would care if they came out in Navy Red and Gold hoops

Because the prison bars are part of the Collingwood branding?

How would we feel if next week North Melbourne wanted to wear replica Crows gear for their game?

Is it against us?

For one or two games it would not be an issue. Especially if North had a genuine reason to do so. They don't BTW.

For that one game it does not affect our brand at all.

But I bet the AFL would allow it though.

If Port were wanting to use that jumper on a more regular basis, and use the "Magpie" logo then it is an issue. That should never happen.

Two games makes no impact to Collingwood at all.

In terms of branding the stripes in Port's logo is more of an issue in regards to black and white stripes brand. If Eddie was against that, I would agree, because it is a permanent logo and very much similar to Collingwood's brand.

And there is the answer to your question.

They are not the Magpies. The Port Adelaide Magpies are associated with the prison bars.
The Port Adelaide Power are not.

Now come back into the fold and become a Crows fan again, it's weird to see a Crows profile pic arguing so vehemently for port.

The issue is the black and white stripes, just take their prison bars Guernsey and put a thin teal line/piping between any where there is black and white, all they need to do is add a bit of teal and they keep their history going but they're so god damn stubborn that it has to be exactly the same as yester year

I am arguing against Eddie. And his power base.

His production company Jam TV with Crocmedia essentially controls the Footy media.

Turned it into tabloid trash.

In a token act, he stands down as Collingwood President. Yet he is still effectively the President and this episide proves it.

The AFL should consider all 18 clubs when making a decision. Not what Eddie thinks.

Port wearing that jumper against us for two games has zero impact on Collingwood or any other club. But it means a lot to them.

I can guarantee if this was not Port, a lot of people here would agree the power Eddie has in this league is too much, and this is another example of it.

Was going to write on their page that they should just wear the dam thing if it means so much to them, but then I noticed the conversation against the prison bar jumper was mostly about losing points.
What? The points they assume they are going to automatically win against the Crows just by showing up? The game we might win?
Now, I know we are a long way off and I expect us to lose this showdown by about ten goals but how about a bit of humility? Wouldn't it be fun to beat them and they have to lose ANOTHER four points!

Port don't either.

Port Power were established as a completely independent team from the Port Adelaide Magpies.

I agree.
I spent a good part of my early years on BigFooty arguing this.

But like Chinese made MG, they have since absorbed the original club and have the right to that history now. Turning the SANFL club into the Power Reserves.

4 points will be deducted from their total whether they win or lose. It doesn't assume that they'll win.

I still don't get why Port hate the colours they won their only premiership in. Bizarre

They don't. The Port Power have crafted an identity as the underdogs, the battlers.

Kochie doesn't actually give a shit about the prison bars, he just knows it's a battle he's destined to lose in the long term which is perfect for him.

Every year he can trot it out to show he's "fighting the man" and reinforce their branding niche.

They're that far ahead of us that I honestly didn't even consider the possibility, but you make a great point. The impossible happens and they get no bars and no points. Delish.
