2021 Non-Crows AFL Discussion Part 1: we can have lots of fun!

they are desperate.. the club is in mountains of debt.. they need to increase their supporter base.

I read an article a few years back and the gist of it was that when Adelaide joined the AFL alot of sanfl port adelaide supporters obviously became crows supporters.. a few years later when port power started it is believed a lot of these supporters migrated back to port adelaide away from the crows.. but a fair few didn't.. a fair few didn't associate the sanfl port adelaide with the AFL Port Powa.. and simply stayed on as crows supporters..

Im calling bullshit here.

Not what you are saying but what they think, I just do not believe there is many at all Port supporters from SANFL that continue to support the Crows?

In fact I have never come across here literally a single poster that is a Port SANFL supporter and Crows supporter.

Bov and I know each other from an old football forum and one time in the week up to April 1st on that forum, we handed the passwords to each others accounts to see if we could amp it up and not get caught out.

First thing I did as "Bov" was to start a thread about how I'd decided to stop supporting the Crows and was just going to follow Port. All the Port fans on the forum lapped it up and I got a PM two minutes later with "oh, it's on now arseh*le".

Good times, we made a fair effort too, Bov made sure he followed my style of one sentence paragraphs, I spelt really poorly, so you didn't know it was a stitch up. Sadly, there was a Blues fan on the forum who worked as a private dick, he worked it out

How smug bringing up that contract, for Eddie to then point out according to the contract Port aren't supposed to be selling black and white guernseys!

And its clear why Port were allowed to wear it for a designated Heritage Round. Its because in those rounds, EVERY club gets to honor its heritage and therefore its appropriate for Port to be allowed to wear it then. But Showdowns are not a heritage round, despite Port trying to convince the world it is.

Eddie is right it absolutely will end up in court and Port will lose. If they keep pushing the issue Collingwood will sue Port or the AFL it's only a matter of time

It's a little late to try and win those fans back isn't it? Like 20 years of stuff has happened to those fans. They're better off trying to get a new generation on board.... You know like we have with our women's team.

They've totally miss read the market. These days it all about new fans, new members it's never about old ones.

The Port Power reserve side in the SANFL will no longer exist so they are trying to hang onto something when they move to the AFL reserve side.

one of my best mates growing up is one.. I was a bays supporter.. he was port adelaide.

when the crows were formed he became a crows supporter as i did.. he and I both still are 30 years or so later.

he still has a soft spot for the Powa and he still supports the sanfl port team as I do the bays..

you have to remember that first crows team was to most south aussie football followers seen as a sort of sa state team.. and it was made up with a few very popular port adelaide players from their sanfl side. it did bring the entire state of south aussie football together at the time.. one common enemy and cause.. to “kick a vic”..

thats how I mostly remember it anyhow.. but ive had a shitload of beers since then and taken some good party drugs.. maybe my memory of it differs to others!..

He said everyone knew because at that time all the clubs saw it as fancy dress and wanted rid of it.
