I’m sorry but I find it weird how people get certain impression (not just you, others as well) about players and how committed/professional they are (need a kick up the butt etc) when we don’t know them, probably never get to a practice and have no insider knowledge. Much like life, players have different personalities and if people judged Dal Santo by the laconic way he played they would think he didn’t give a damn.
I totally get that but I have heard people on here and outside of the forum suggest his attitude was less than expected. If you want to go back and read my impression of him last year I was his biggest backer. Preseason I suggested he would be AA quality. Instead he's barely in the best 22 with Highmore looking every bit like he's going to be first picked in the same role. In the list of players who have dropped off the most in AFL footy since least year we had Coff, Butts, Marshall and Long. Marshall has excuses but the others just for what ever reason failed to back up.
There were suggestions all three came back cocky and arrogant and didn't put in the required effort or live up to standards. Once I would have excused that away but that's exactly why we stayed down for 10 years. Letting standards slip is a one way ticket to mediocrity. If we got rid of Bruce for his attitude then allow another generation to develop the same habits we will end up back here again wondering where the years went.
