postponing the problem for one year does not solve our tight list spots

The 21 or so players coming off contract next year might contain some solutions there.

Joe and Fullarton both do not bring the ball to the ground from a contest.
So we lacked that when Hippy did his knee
We missed McStay doing that early as well.

yes we where the top scoring team, although we also heavily scored against on rebound 50.
I not sure where you find stats on intercept marks in forward 50 as well
I say we high on that as well
i get to a degree why fagan stuck with same plan when hipwood went down, but hope we have a bit of a tinker with a whole summer to do so.

The locks would be daniher, mcstay, linc, cameron.

i would favour Lester as third tall.

ah chee come in as a defensive forward.

Rayner and Cockatoo rotating for the final spot.

There is probably only 4 people that I see on that list that are, what I would consider unlikely to get contracts.
Another 2 or 3 depending on the year they have.

And if it's an issue, he'll decline our offer and we'll both move on with our lives. It's why I don't stress trying to guess what players are going to do in a scenario like this - from my pov he's either coming or he's not. We can discuss his fit or lack thereof, the wisdom of recruiting him, but there's no point making broad claims about whether or not he will come or not and why.

Have I missed something here? Have we put an offer to Cadbutt?

Aside from trading players out, I thought someone inhere or Tom Morris said we've got no room for trades.

Id love a fast ready made HBF such as Nick Hine at Essendon.

Hey, thanks for the call up McIvor, was waiting for your call.Ready to take the lions to a winning grand final.Tell Scott Morrison, Conor McKenna is a man on a mission all I need is a flight back from Ireland!!!!!

Quote by Conor -’Now, after two months home and three Gaelic games for Tyrone, including winning the GAA/GPA Footballer of the Month award, McKenna has told reporters in Ireland his time in Australia might not be over‘

Calling on all lions fans who have twitter to send him a message stating we would love him at the lions.Let’s get the power of all lions fans across the country united to get this GUN in a lions jumper!!!!!!

Collectively WE CAN DO IT - DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE LION

DARE TO DREAM LIONS FANS -CALL TO ACTION

Madden said “the passing of Stynes drew his attention to how big the AFL was, but it was watching former Essendon speedster Conor McKenna that really piqued his interest.’ always loved Conor for his speed and skill.

The Essendon games I watched I just love Conor’s foot skills and at 25 years, is right in the sweet spot to give us an attacking defender.May also inspire/influence Madden to take his game to the next level as it appears from above, Madden has a good amount of respect/looks up to Conor and this could be a great source of inspiration to Madden.

I would refer to some of our experts here but we would not have to trade for him, he would only take up a list spot.no drafts picks would be involved. There is an old saying never look a gift horse in the mouth. A great opportunity in my book to get a real talent at no cost to our draft hand. Brisbane YES YOU CAN. meets our needs to a tee.In my book he is a GUN!!!!

As great as it would be, I don't think Conor is seriously considering a permanent return to AFL. Pretty sure his comments previously have been around coming back in the mid-season draft to play the second half of the season with a premiership contender, rather than moving to Australia permanently ever again.

Would love him to change his mind though of course.

Wouldn’t that be a story.

Coming back from retirement, getting selected in the mid season draft, winning the premiership and then simply retiring again.

Don't think he would win clubman of the year that's for sure.

If he’s made it clear he’s only seeing out that 6 month contract and he helps a team to a flag then sure, they probably would be doing their best to get him to sign on for another year.

But I don’t think there’d be any bad blood.

Not sure he’s really all that serious anyways.

The club has done a good job trading in players with AFL experience since 2017
We have traded in 11 players in that period.

CEY (9 games) would be considered way below expectations. Cockatoo (6 games) the jury is still out. However a good preseason could change everything

2017: Cameron, Hodge
2018: Adams, McCarthy, Neale, Lyons
2019:Ah Chee, Birchall, CEY
2020: Daniher, Cockatoo
2021:???

With regards to Levi - can anyone remember the age and circumstances involved in Ben Hudson coming to the Lions...was that a similar scenario to what Levi would be offering?

Hop

stop yelling

Trade Lachie to Freo for 6 or 8 plus 27. Give Geelong 14 and 27 for Hawkins, one/two year deal, pay him with Lachie’s money. Go to the draft with 6/8 and 18. Solves everything, including world peace. Yes I’ve had far too much sun today :)

Cats would want more than that for one of their promising young forwards

Luke Dunstan came second for votes from the Saints. Could do with a bustling strong player in the guts.

As others have mentioned no room in the cap for players wanting reasonably good money
I am sure Luke will want a decent wage wherever he goes

I wonder if we have enough cap space for Sam Weideman from Melbourne
Age 24, 195 cm, 97 kg, 49 games, National draft 2015 pick 9

Just throwing it out there as a Forward/R. Not many choices out their at present
No real knowledge of how good/average/bad he is. Also have no idea what sort of money he would be looking at

OOC and suggestion on the main board that a 3rd rounder would get it done if he is not delisted beforehand
Only 5 games with 3 goals 4 behinds in 2021
13 games with 19 goals 8 behinds in 2020
In 2018/9 did a bit of forward/ruck work in the seniors
Apparently he plays mainly ruck in the twos according to some posters but he plays forward in the seniors
Melbourne is a hard team to get that best 22 spot.

Talk is that Collingwood are chasing him.

No.

interesting min $$
if you about to go from a club like Levi and no idea if he has anything else to fall back on.
$120k might be better and move to Brisbane for 2 years
then local footy.. As who knows if that play next year in vic anyway. No way you get any big $
Also a chance to play finals if you play well
Sometimes a change helps heaps

If not Casbolt.. I be happy to get someone with a mature body to play while Hippy out.
No idea if Hipwood back for 2022 anyway
