I was really interested to hear TT talking about how he thinks they'll start slow/be off the pace early. Didn't sound promising to me.

The US tour felt more like a PR exercise for the new owners than a preseason. He is also worried theres half a dozen or so players not wanting to be at Chelsea so thats not great atm either. Busy end to the window coming before we can settle.

Why are people so off Chelsea to even make top 4? I know they lost Rudiger but Koulibaly is a good replacement and they’ve brought in Sterling who is a level above the likes of Pulisic and Ziyech.

My big worry is down back, we've lost Rudi, Christensen, about to lose Azpi and haven't addressed our lack of depth in the RWB. It's pretty thin atm.

Chelsea are a watch this space with all of the off field and defensive changes. 2 CBs and 1 RB/leader out with just 1 notable incoming could bring them back down a bit. Sterling is an upgrade on their wide forwards. But apart from that it's pretty much same-same. Perhaps Gallagher improves the midfield a little?

I think people are a bit hesitant on Chelsea with just how they went 2nd half of the season.

If Sterling can score 15 plus goals though, that should put them right back in top 3 calculations I'd imagine.

What makes you think Gabby will suck?

Didn't cut it as a main striker in a much better side, with better service and system - so expecting him to perform better as main striker in a worse team that creates less chances and has an inferior system seems like a big ask. I also would think that he is being brought in to take Arsenal into the top 4, and as you can see I don't think that will happen. So lack of team success also a factor.

But I don't make the prediction with much conviction. So if he's really good (which is entirely possible), fair play to him.

I guess Jesus was back up striker to a team that would rather not play one than him.

Also scored the same amount of goals as flop Lukaku and half of those came in one game.

While I think he'll go alright it's not really that big of a call to think he'll flop.

Jesus never really got a sustained run at it, with the full confidence of the manager at city though did he?

Was always second fiddle to aguero, and even the last two seasons pep never really gave him a good crack.

Personally I don’t think he’s a great finisher (from a being clinical perspective), but could easily be proven wrong. Strikers more than anyone else thrive on self-belief, momentum and positive energy. Might just get all 3 of those things at Arsenal while never really having the opportunity to foster them at City

City might miss Top 4 this season with all of the outs to other EPL sides.

Conte actually won the title in his first year at Chelsea - with a 43 point turnaround! But it followed one of those weird recent Mourinho seasons where he seemed to sabotage his team. Chelsea had won the league 8 points clear the season before, so you could say it was return to form.

Looking at Spurs incoming players I think they have mostly added depth rather than improved the quality of their first 11. At their best they can beat anyone. They took 6 points off City last season. But they are inconsistent. They lost the 4 games against Chelsea and United, and also lost games to Burnley, Brighton, Southampton, Wolves and Palace. In total they lost 11 games. City lost 3, Liverpool 2.

It would be good to see Spurs challenge for top spot but I think with Haaland firing City might be even more dominant.

Conte is the Gai Waterhouse of football. He pushes/thrashes teams to the limits and then when he's broken them, he moves on to a new batch of players elsewhere.

The side he has this year has the best center forward in the division and the best complimentary player too him possible. From there, the quality of player available to him is not of the same calibre as he had at Chelsea but you can bet your bottom dollar, he'll set up his team exactly the same as he did with Chelsea to best utilise Kane and Heung-min Son and Richarlison when needed. He doesn't have the incomparable 26 year old Kante who was like having an extra player on the pitch or Courtois.

The weakest link in the side is Lloris. He has been a favourite of mine for years but I feel that he was right on the edge at the 2018 World Cup and he has deteriorated since then. I fear for him this year.

Tottenham also have to navigate Champions League football and I just don't think they have the resources to mount serious challenges in both the Champions League and the Premier League. That's not to say they won't do well in the Premier League, they do have Kane and Heung-min Son after all, but they could well be a "one season wonder".

Had no idea Spurs had signed Haaland as well. They should go well.
