Are the link to Geelong only because he gave one of them a medal on grand final day? He would slot in nicely. Steward is almost 30, so him and sdk could hold down that black line for the next ten years
Selwood apparently stayed in contact and has been mentoring him. Don't know if that's actually a meaningful connection or not

He won auskicker of the year that year, and that gave him a mentorship from Selwood. Everything else is hearsay and peoples interpretation of that.

To be fair, the hearsay was also coming from Joel:
“We have got one in the draft this year, Jedd Busslinger, but we look forward to him going and being a first-rounder.

“He’ll be a first-rounder to the Cats hopefully.”

Correct. But what was he going to say……he’s good, good luck to him.?

Mate, you need to let it go. Life will eat you alive
Making jokes is part of that process…anyway all our best recruitment of late happens in the mid season draft can Harley Reid nominate given how advanced he is? Can we reverse Collingwood and lose 12 by under a goal trying our absolute best of course!

When I think of Ben Allan career, I think of him as a hawk. Its where he played his best football so they should be getting first preference for his son to be drafted over Freo.
Any footballer that play's in a winning grand final team, their son should automatically be eligible to be selected under father/son doesn't matter how many games they play!! If you are good enough to be in a premiership side it shouldn't matter how many games you played!!

Given the last few drafts if anything we need to make the top 10 picks and possibly the 1st round completely uncompromised.

I think whilst we should never lose Father/Son and Academies are still necessary for the Northern based teams these things are really messing up the draft.

The top selections need to be available for the worst sides, just leave the 1st round clean and after that if a Father/Son or Academy goes then let the first one be a normal selection without penalty and if there are multiples the second one and beyond can be taxed points.

It’s not good for the top selections to be practically unavailable, yes teams have to come up with points but those players are frequently the difference makers needed to even up the comp.

We certainly don’t need more Father/Sons or Academy options or you might as well scrap the draft.

Spot on, look at the last top few picks of the last 3 drafts. All compromised.

With Ashcroft coming.

And another Ashcroft in 2024

So sides that win the most flags get a big leg up?

Not sure how that would go down

I'm a big fan of the father son rule but we don't need the draft to be any more compromised than it already is
