I must admit i forgot about that BUT

Without a discount and based on pick 1 and pick 18 bids that totals 3985 points. Brisbane has 2247 so they would be 1740 points short, pick 6 is worth 1751 points.

With the 20% discount on pick 1 and pick 18 bids (3985-797) that totals 3,188 Brisbane has 2247 so they would be 941 points short, pick 18 is worth 985 points (effectively the pick for Fletcher).

Maybe its just me but it seems pointless having this system if Brisbane can just trade out of the first round for a player then use junk picks to match bids if theyre still going to be the equivalent in debt for what one of those bids would be.
Then their future first round pick will be downgraded next year

Yep, would quite happily give a future first for Philipou
I definitely would. Get an extra top pick this year who is one year down the development path by next year already.

I'd love to get our hands on Essendon pick 22 - might be open to trading it since the Davey bid is currently expected in the late teens - to get Charlie Clarke to fill the small forward gap we have.

We don't have the later picks to give them the points gain they'd be after.

That and the fact you give Ross a better talent now to improve a pick for arguments sake is pick 9 (that is our starting point based on this current season).

So anything above pick 9 is a win

At the moment we don't, unless we are trading up from 26

Nothing stopping us from trading a future pick in though and also doing a deal aroundtheir 4 and 22

They are on the record suggesting they'd be willing to split pick 4
I wonder…

9 + 32

for

14 + 17 (Sydney)

14 + next years first + 47

For

4 + 22.

Our draft hand would then be:

4 + 17 + 22 + 28

Or some variation.

Should the Bombers overlook Tsatas, it remains unclear how far he could slide down the order. Non-Victorian clubs are wary of drafting Tsatas, meaning it’s unlikely Gold Coast and West Coast would take him with their respective first picks. And with speculation the Hawks and Cats are wedded to other players, recruiters believe St Kilda would be a chance to pounce on Tsatas late in the top 10.

Yes but everyone seems clear it will be a pick 2 bid instead of pick 1 which drops the total by 400 points or so.

Wowza. That would be the worst thing

Fcuk me what an awesome conundrum that would be

If we traded our future first, at best it would give us a late first this year.
We'd need to trade our future first and second to get a pick that would give us Phillipou. ( if someone even wanted to do a deal like that ).
I disagree.

I think most clubs would expect us to be bottom 6 this year and would take the punt that their current pick 11 could be 4-8.

He was pretty highly rated coming in - The top 17 AFL draft prospects for 2022 – and the AFL stars they compare to

Size: 184cm, 73kg

Champion Data player comparison: George Hewett

Champion Data says:Champion Data covered just three matches across multiple competitions of Tsatas last season. He recorded 25 disposals, 18 uncontested possessions and nine score involvements in an U17’s Championship match playing for Vic Metro.

Foxfooty.com.au says: A genuine Pick 1 contender. After a broken collarbone interrupted the start of his 17th year, Tsatas turned heads at state level for Vic Metro. A speedy mover that can break lines that possesses an efficient kick and clean hands, Tsatas is everything you’re looking for in a wing/midfield prospect. And he also has the ability to push into an inside on-ball role.

All I read about Tsatas is that he’s the best loose ball getter/outside accumulator in the draft which is not what you want to hear from a top 10 pick. Give me the contested ball winners.
But he is a super talent.

So, the question you have to ask. Is he someone Our football department can make a better footballer?

If we think Bytel and Byrnes can help with the inside work Tsatas might be an option.

CMac is my first pick, Phillipou next, but I wont be upset if RTB wants us to run and run and run and run all game long leading to us drafting Tsatas.

Could be, Fletcher might also get bid on higher.

Either way it seems a pointless system where you can trade away your first round pick and then go into deficit the equivalent of a first (or second) round pick to get two first round picks.
