How many years have we been wanting mids and we get hbf and try and turn them into mids. Except 2021 sraftZero chance…will be a mid!
West Coast have a hard call with their early picks, do they take, Allen, Busslinger, Ginbey or Hewett. A lot of news that Hewett will slide out, not so sure? There are some whispers St Kilda could trade for a second first-round selection, with Western Australian Elijah Hewett a potential target.

If he doesn’t become a mid and becomes an average flanker. He will have become a bust.
He has broken the top 10 because of his potential to become a genuine mid at his size - with everyone labelling him a Bont clone.
That’s his appeal.
We need to Remember, he will be taken at 10.
Not at 24/36/42 etc etc. You would have expectations as a fan the player we take is a very good footballer.

They all excite me though hard to split and would be happy with any of them
I went looking for where I read that Tsatas has the lowest contested possession ratio of any top 10 pick in the last 10 years, and came across this post, by someone on the Norf board, who seems to really know what they’re talking about (given the detail in his response, and the fact peeps on there are asking his views on guys).
It was in response to a claim that Tsatas has a well balanced game of being able to win the ball both on the inside and outside:
“This is not true at all - he's actually very weak on the inside; both in terms of his ability to win contested ball, and also in his ability to dispose of it under pressure. He can't break out of/through tackles and as a result, he often dump kicks out of congestion. One of his worst traits in addition to this is his handballs under pressure often go to space or at his teammates ankles.
I would put a lot of money on him not ending up a genuine AFL
quality midfielder, due to how poor his stoppage craft and defensive efforts are.
To further add to this, he averaged 34.9% contested possession rate at NAB League level this year and 27.6% in his Under 18 champs game. If you add his U16 Champs game last year and 1 NAB League game, he had 28% and 27.3% contested possession rate respectively in those 2 appearances
Compare this to the following guys this year at NAB League level:
Ashcroft: 44%
Sheezel: 52%
Wardlaw 45.5%
Humphrey: 49.5%
Harley Reid: 49.2%
Some from previous years at NAB League level who have translated well:
Oliver: 59.5%
Noah Anderson: 44%
Brayshaw: 46%
LDU: 48.3%”
Someone else then asked him this:
“Would you not say that this is easily explained by Tsatas playing comparatively more minutes on the outside than the names you listed? Many of which are pure inside mids”
To which he replied:
“That's the thing; he didn't.
He played as a full time midfielder in basically every game he played. Round 1 is the only game you could argue he played on the wing quite a bit early days, and even then, 32.1% of his possessions were contested which is pretty much his average for the season.”
Sounds like he’s a LONG way from being ready to play consistently to any sort of decent level in the middle at AFL level, if he ever does. May even be best suited to a running/rebounding role off HB.
Will be fascinating to see how his career unfolds, as he can obviously find the ball, and really run.
He doesn’t lack penetration.Have not wanted a kid as much as Phillipou in ages. Hard to see him sliding to us though. I'm prepared to be disappointed.
Tsatas' lack of kicking penetration worries me. I don't want another guy who can't kick over a jam tin. The rest of his game is exciting but kicking is the hardest skill to improve.
If we don't get Coby Burgiel, who I like also, Jaxon Binns would be the closest next thing.ST KILDA
Draft picks: 9, 28, 32, 47, 73, 81
List needs: Match-winning midfielders/forwards, elite ball-users, key position depth
Who do they get at first pick: Cam Mackenzie (NGA), Elijah Tsatas, Jedd Busslinger, Ed Allan, Ollie Hollands, Mattaes Phillipou
St Kilda’s first choice will hinge on the dominoes that fall before them, including which way Essendon and Hawthorn go, which makes it difficult to know exactly who they will land. The Saints have been strongly linked to quick and poised midfielder Cam Mackenzie, and it’s not just the Next Generation Academy tie that makes sense. Key defender Jedd Busslinger, 194cm bolter Ed Allan and running machine Ollie Hollands are others who they have shown interest in for their first choice. Don’t be surprised to see electric ball-magnet Elijah Tsatas, who wishes to remain in Victoria, slide all the way to St Kilda’s selection — and if he does, expect him to be snapped up. It’s a similar story for forward/midfielders Bailey Humphrey and Mattaes Phillipou, who would help address their lack of matchwinners, but both may be gone by then.
Who’s in the mix after that: Coby Burgiel, James Van Es, Jaxon Binns, Harvey Gallagher, Noah Long, Angus McLennan (NGA), Clay Tucker
It is believed the Saints are among several clubs looking to get another pick in the second round of the draft. The Saints are fans of speedster Coby Burgiel if he gets to 28, but he may not get past a host of suitors before them. The draft range of key defender James Van Es begins at their third choice at 32, while they have shown interest in 19-year-old distributor Harvey Gallagher, wingman Jaxon Binns and small forward Noah Long, who could all come into the equation in the second-half of the draft.
Late mail: While they are no guarantee to get Mackenzie through their NGA, they are likely to secure forgotten defender Angus McLennan as a Category B rookie. McLennan has endured a wretched run with injury but the 19-year-old, who has also played for St Kilda’s VFL affiliate the Sandringham Zebras along with NAB League footy this year, does have two other suitors.

Worth noting that it’s only really Gin I don’t want. The other 5 very close & I’d be happy with any of them. Really like Humphrey though.

I know the highlights clips of all the lads are just that Highlights but Elijah Hewett looks an outstanding prospect, he is the game breaking type we need ,
I want
Well, I'm not an expert on these youngsters but that's what his draft profile says in the negatives section.
Watching his highlight videos it also appears that way too.
If you have some info to the contrary it would be good if you shared please, I certainly don't want it to be true.
Apparently he doesn’t like pizza. Do not want.Well, I'm not an expert on these youngsters but that's what his draft profile says.

With Pick 10 I'm hearing
Are you talking about Tsatas? I think he pulls his kicks to direct it to drop where he wants it. It's a bit of an awkward style but effective. He seems to hit targets. His leg seems to snap to a stop before the full leg extension to take force off the kick.
Yep, Libba now works in the NAB League.Sorry guys if this has been spoken about prior but am I right in saying Chris Liberatore got the flick from the saints earlier this year and Chris Toce has taken over as our main recruiter?
Thought Liberatore had done a decent job after the s**t show of Elshaug.
I think his kick is messy because he’s always kicking at full pace. I think if anything once he slows down a touch he may time the ball better. For all the comps out there I think the best two I’ve heard are Ed Langdon/Chad Warner and I agree. Langdon’s kicking was seen at a simmilar level but at AFL level has improved greatly. Also let’s remember he had some rough injuries. Ultimately, I don’t think his kicking lacks penetration any more then say Sheezel, Clark, Ashcroft or anyone when really except for PooWell, I'm not an expert on these youngsters but that's what his draft profile says.
