Richmond superstar Dustin Martin is in doubt to face the Giants this weekend, with the triple premiership player taking a few days away from the club.

Tigers coach Damien Hardwick told reporters on Thursday Martin, who lost his father Shane over the off-season and had his 2021 season cut short by a debilitating kidney injury, had been on personal leave from Richmond.

The Herald Sun reported Martin’s plan was still to play this weekend, but Richmond was putting no pressure on the midfielder, whose mental health is the club’s No. 1 priority.

Herald Sun reporter Jon Ralph told Fox Footy that Martin’s absence is due to him still battling the grief of his father’s death.
“My understanding is he’s just heartbroken by the loss of his dad, who of course was a mentor, and he hasn’t really been able to find a person to replace him. Such an integral part of his life and just a great person to be a sounding board for him,” he said.

Isn't this the whole point of the top up lists? No way the game gets delayed unless they can't bring 22 total players.
I think the issue is more that we don't know how bad it could get for West Coast.
I don't know the rules, but I assume if players are in a plane together for 4hrs and a few players end up being positive on Saturday are all the players on the flight close contacts?

And could we end up with another 10 positive cases, but we might only fly over 6-8 top up players so unless we grab some from the VFL might not be able to field a team.

I'm "reliably" informed, the AFL is keen to not spoil the "Fan Experience" during these trying times

I can't see fans noticing any difference .....and Danger may finally get his wish

More than 93.7 per cent of eligible Victorians have had two doses of the vaccine, but the latest figures from the health department show 64 per cent of people aged 18 and up have now received three vaccine doses.

That figure has risen by less than seven percentage points in a month — it stood at 57.1 per cent on February 23.

WA's booster rate was 65% on the 18th march
