Given our list profile, if we can’t afford to pay out some lesser contracts then Reid has ****ed it upYeah you can delist those that are contracted if you fulfill their contractual agreement in doing so. How many are actually out of contract?
Why would they need to ask him to stay?![]()
This is where Reid falls down in my opinion.
I dont think he is as forward looking as he should be. Contracts signed in June can also be signed in September when you have a better idea of needs.
According to footywire AFL Out of Contract Players in 2022 we have the least uncontracted players . For a rebuilding side thats madness
We have 10 players whose contracts finish this year - average for clubs seems to be 14
Of our 10 only 3 have service of more than 4 years - Davis , Himmelberg and Walker (Frampton has 3)
They are looking to re-sign Walker and Davis and Himmelberg were added to this weeks squad.
The other 6 have 1 or 2 years on the list and you would think most will get more opportunities.
So who do we lose or trade?
( I do think Seedsman will be paid outside the list )
Why would they need to ask him to stay?
He’s contracted. They can simply force him to stay if they really wanted him..
This sounds like the club desperately trying to make it sound like they want crouch to stay so as to keep his trade value up..
If they do the opposite and instead make it sound like they want to get him off the list, then his already low value becomes even worse and they might also be asked to pay part of his wage at his new club next year!..

They have two options..It's an interesting one, no one is happy about us playing Matt but in the past we have completely driven down players prices by not playing them. Will it actually make any difference though?
No club wanted him when he was a free agent, I'm not very optimistic.
I think you give them too much credit. I have a feeling they have no idea what they are doing week by week. Why would they need to ask him to stay?

They have two options..
1)they play him in the AFL side for the rest of the year or
2) they leave him in the SANFL for the remainder of the year.
In the SANFL its clear he’s gonna dominate… he’s gonna get 40 possessions and a couple of goals a game which will see him BOG most weeks.
At the AFL level, if this years mcrouch form at that level is anything to go by, he’s gonna look slow, allow his opponents to easily run off him, handball his team mates into the s**t, barely ever trouble the scoreboard attendants, get caught holding the ball regularly and basically do absolutely nothing damaging with the pill in hand.
Which one sounds more valuable?.
I’d be keeping him in the SANFL… at least there some other club might be fooled into thinking he’s a gun that is just “on the outer” at his current club.. instead of them seeing him play garbage football at AFL level and having it confirmed that he aint no gun!
Fairly close to fact I'd say. How we end up with so few players OOC this year despite the mediocrity of our list is just poor list management. If that's the reasoning, we really are run by a bunch of absolute morons.
Other than Norf and St.Kilda, no other clubs are that stupid! They have two options..

Might be a good idea to wait and see how the SA lads match up against Vic Metro and WA before we get too carried away with the SA talent order in this draft given Vic Country have beaten both SA and the Allies who beat us.Fairly close to fact I'd say. How we end up with so few players OOC this year despite the mediocrity of our list is just poor list management.
But then we're accustomed to that being the norm at the AFC
I posted in the Hawthorn match day thread that with so much top end SA talent in this years draft, we really need to strike hard now and the two picks we have in the ND aren't going to get the job done. We need to get creative and convert 2023 picks into useful picks for this year, including trading our 2023 first into this year.
Having not played for 12 months would have been the biggest factor for other AFL clubs more than any other factor.Other than Norf and St.Kilda, no other clubs are that stupid!
The fact there was zero interest in Crouch last trade period means his papers were already stamped by other teams. That's why his manager agreed to a reduced two year here, no one else wanted his style of high possession, low damage football.
Agreed, although I doubt there's many suitors and certainly no one giving us a decent pick for him.Having not played for 12 months would have been the biggest factor for other AFL clubs more than any other factor.

Whatever gets ROB the * out of dodge asap is a win.
Do you have a comparison of their weekends games, one being in the AFL and the other the SANFL?Carmichael's stats vs Richmond VFL last week 25 Disposals 18 kicks 7 handballs 4 tackles 5 marks 0.3 taken from the VFL app (3rd VFL game)
Turner's stats vs Glenelg SANFL 24 Disposals 12 Kicks 12 Handballs 1 mark 1 tacle 3 clearances 5 i50's 2 r50's 1.0. (1st SANFL game for the Crows)
Trade our first pick. Hamish isn't to be trusted with it after the Jones, Mchenry, Galluci, Mcasey busts.Give Rankine and Dunkley as much money as they want and get a couple of duds of the list
No current season stats available
What happens with Seedsman?Contracted until end of 2022

Out:

One of Berg/Frampton
Davis(R)
Rowe??
Good point, forgot about the seed. I think we will negotiate a settlement, or place him on the rookie list like we’ve done with other injured players in the pastWhat happens with Seedsman?
Is he kept on the list and on the LTI for 2023 or can we negotiate a payout for him and a list spot with the AFL?
Our 2023 1st is likely to be pick 2.Fairly close to fact I'd say. How we end up with so few players OOC this year despite the mediocrity of our list is just poor list management.

We’ll be bad, but there’s no way we’ll be worse than North or WCE next year. They’re on another level of poor performanceOur 2023 1st is likely to be pick 2.
