I'd say if in the remainder of the season Turner isn't regularly in our best sanfl players I don't see the point in retaining him. He's 25.
Would be harsh, especially as he’s coming off an injury

If he’s not in the AFL side consistently by the end of next year, sure, but he at least deserves some form of a run at it

Different rankings have varied views on Phillipou's kicking skills. I'd be interested in what people on here think, if they've watched him play. Cam MacKenzie is rocketing up the draft rankings. He's 187cm, fast & has high level foot skills. We MUST get a mid with our first pick who is superb by foot & preferably not another 181cm lad. The other highly skilled outside mid is Tsatas - highly skilled, tall & fast. Needs to work on his defensive game.
There is talk that both North & Eagles may go for a KPP or will grab Wardlaw, but he is an inside mid, so either way it's a smorgasboard of mids with varying strengths for Crows to select from. Clark, Hewett even Sheezel. Please get it right Hamish!!
who here has full confidence that our recruiters will pick a skilled mid with our first pick? I’m scared shitless we end up with another tall.

Lists Himmelberg, Hinge and Newchurch as likely to re-sign, Scholl and Crouch as trade bait and Borlase, Rowe, Frampton Davis and Turner as questionable to get new deals.
"It would shock though if Adelaide delisted the midfielder, given it recruited him as a mature-ager mid-season while he was injured, leaving him just a couple of months to prove himself on field. Adelaide was understood to have told his SANFL club, Glenelg, it would be a two-season commitment, but as of this week there were no guarantees."

Sounds more likely to stay than not.

Not if he takes the place of a project rookie ….. ruck, SF, Irishman with blinding pace, basketball convert.

Might depend on who we plan on drafting. If we pick a Keeler/Lemmey type, then that SANFL forward line looks pretty crowded.
So you think a tall 18 year old draftee can step into the breach from day one if required?

We need to draft a tall no doubt but we need to retain Himmelberg at least on a rookie deal if for nothing else but depth IMO.

Don't think there's any tall forwards trotting around in the state Leagues currently to get enthusiastic about., Ballenden perhaps the exception but he made it quite clear in the MSD he wasn't interested in a short term contract.

You serious?

Gollant is a 3rd tall, and McAseyis barely SANFL level at present.
What's got you so fired up?

We don't have to go with the exact same structure. Murray or anyone over 190cm can go in the ruck for a few minutes if need be.

If hamish picks busslinger (looks quality) at our 1st, there will be a riot as a3rd tall intercept is not an elite projecting mid that we need + michalanney can take that role

If we pumped the games we gave to Murray this season into McAsey we would know more. We absolutely shat on his confidence, and just left him to rot in the SANFL the same with Worell he should have had more games this season in the AFL

Out for the rest of the season.

He will miss Western Australia's final two games of the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships when his state faces Vic Country on Sunday at GMHBA Stadium and then the following week against South Australia at Joondalup.

"He's had an unstable shoulder most of the year which was always going to require surgery at some point and he's decided to call it now," said Adam Jones, WA's talent manager.

What’s the point? If you delist Turner at the end of 2023, a project rookie will still take his place

Basically, now we’ve drafted Turner, we need to give him a chance to prove he’s AFL quality, once he’s had time to get up to AFL standard fitness. If he is, great. If he isn’t, no harm done, delist him at the end of next year. It’s not like we’re giving up a spot for a sure-fire young prospect

The only way I’d delist him at the end of this year is if he does an ACL or something in the later rounds, at which point we may as well cut our losses

Only video - and mostly set shots but he has a fairly solid action - but all left foot

Can get some distance but 40m is his distance

Snap shot is fine

Only concern is in one attempt he let the player get on his left side (but still kicked the goal - he wont get that luxury at higher levels )

2021

2022

So many SA players in this set of rankings and we only have two picks. Surely we use pick 3 of Philipou?

Need to think clevery and see if we can move picks from 2023 into this year. Drafdting SA talent means we don't have the go home fear when the rebuild drags on for a number of seasons.
We aren’t in a position to just go local

However - Phillipou in the mix with Hewett Wardlaw and Tsatas I reckon at our pick which likely ends up pick 4 when brisbane leap frog us

Sheezel is the potential stand out talent if he got thru to pick 4 but I’d be wary re go home factor

Phillipou is another player with a slightly too low kick to handball ratio and we have a few of those , I actually don’t mind his kicking though

It’s a shame Tsatas is injured as would have been good to see his form at this level as an outside biased mid and not just nab league

Wardlaw is bankable

Hewett is the one at his best that reminds me a little of Dangerfield but with a bit more subtle touch …. He’s gone from best on ground against metro to basically invisible against the allies which seems a bit of a pattern unfort

Re McKenzie - I rate him but wouldn’t say he’s elite by foot but at least takes game forward from stoppages which we desperately need

Case in point Ben Davis. The fact this guy is still on our list is a travesty.

Not so much. We haven’t needed his list spot until this year so he has been a slightly more experienced head for the boys in the Sanfl. A better top up. This year we need his spot and he goes. Wish he had got a little more of a chance but otherwise his being on the list is fine

Would have been better off taking a punt on another rookie. Ben Davis is a known quantity. We've had half a decade to determine he's not up to scratch. That's more than enough time.

Good read. Nice in-depth analysis

Drury, Hollands, Barnett, J Ryan I’d all say are a bit stiff to be that low. Gilbey and Konstanty stiff to miss out altogether

I don’t follow the kids until later in the year but seems like this draft year is pretty good depth wise? Particularly mids?
