I don't think it's about what Crouch is worth. It's more about does Adelaide want him off their list for a nothing sort of pick.

Personally, I'd rather keep him while the junior mids are developing for an extra year while he is contracted. He can go for fifth rounder the following season, we shouldn't need him at all by then.

Yeah I agree We shouldnt get rid of Crouch for next to nothing. I would prefer to keep him for his final year to help assist our other mids and if and when necessary to fill a hole if needed. Lets face it I am not sure what we could get for a 3rd rounder. What we need is 1st round picks so we can get two gun mids.

He's certainly no Crouch, that's for sure .....I think you have to factor in development in comparing the two players ....Pedlar is just starting his journey

Geez, we've just got to get his body right and get him playing league footy again. He's a difference maker

You want to be careful delisting a player, with the aim of putting them on the Rookie list ......by doing so, they become unrestricted Free Agents

Unrestricted free agents are players who have previously been delisted, are in the bottom 75 per cent of the club's salary or have served 10 or more years at a club. They are able to move to a new club, without giving their current club the option to match their deal

Kind of depressing that GROTTO had to bring up that we signed up Rob for 5 years.

What were we thinking?
He'd just won a best and fairest and was out of contract.

You normally look to sign players that just won awards for being the best at your club.

Aside from the fact that we actively pushed out the guy who won the B&F just the year before...

No argument signing B&F winners. None whatsoever.

The discussion is on contract length.

I am firmly in the camp of 3 years no more - and if they choose to leave then so be it.

We can never be held to ransom by any one player

It might be the pick we need to match a max michalanney bid?. And if so, would be worth it imo as max looks a natural footballer

The fact that ROB was our b & f winner was a very bad sign. I wouldn't be concerned about resigning ROB but of finding out why someone like him was our best player. List management and recruiting should have quit on the spot or been removed that day. The bloke can't even kick properly and he's winning our b & f. Wow. The smart thing to do would have be to cash in on his b & f by trading him before the rest of the league found out how bad our list was.

It seemed an over reaction to losing players and also I think we need the long contract to spread the money out. We have only now just recovered from over paying players.

The club does a god job of overreacting instead of dealing with the real problem and moving people on who are not fit for the role they are employed in. They have needed a complete cleanout for sometime down there.

I don't think we should go there. His wage is too high and Collingwood would only pay 300k of his 1m wage. We would be better picking up a young mobile ruck through the draft or trade a player looking for more opportunity. I think a KPD is a bigger priority or an experienced mid. DeGoey is on the trade table but I can't see the crows going there. I would be targetting Hopper or Rankine or an experienced key back. Griffin Logue I believe isn't contracted yet at Freo.

I honestly don't know how the Pies are going to get it done.

The Pies would be asked to pay way more than $300K, IMO, hear me out.

Pies traded Treloar to Bulldogs for their No.14 and a future second-round selection to the Magpies in exchange for Treloar, also receiving picks No.26, No.33 and No.42 in return. These points are fairly equal to each other, so this was a pure salary dump, and favoured Bulldogs even more because it gave them extra points to pick up JUH.

The salary dump was 33% of Treloar's remaining 5 year contract. Treloar was 28 at the start of his Bulldogs career, Grundy will be 29 by the start of the season next year.

IMO Grundy is on a larger contract, but is more easily replaceable, as he has shown this year. His injury would also affect his value.

Not to mention the highest value in Grundy's contract in terms of performance potential is heavily weighted towards the years in which he is younger/at his peak (diminishing returns). For instance his $7m contract was spread out over 7 years, but you could argue the years where he's aged 26-30 he would be worth more than the years he has remaining.

Out of curiosity anyone know how Will Gould is travelling up in Sydney? He still playing primarily as a back flanker?

I quite liked him in his draft year, and am a bit surprised he's still yet to debut.

Also there has to be something in it for Grundy. He is happy in Victoria, playing at big club, in a team which at this point is travelling well. Very few stay where they are not wanted but I don't think they are at that point yet

I don't know mate, when the Pies have salary cap problems they tend to burn their player relationships pretty quickly.

He's reportedly travelling quite well, most Sydney supporters think he will get a call up soon

I liked him as well but it looks like he used his size over smaller players and has stalled coming up against bigger better players

Not if you watch some of his VFL games on the VFL app.
Regularly racks up 20+ poss's, 29 on the weekend gone.

I guess it's a hard team to break into...bit like Josh Worrell with us?😉
